I know someone who locked their keys in their car, with the car running, I still don't know how you make that mistake.

Raises hand, looks around, feels like a fool.

Fortunately, I had Onstar in that truck. In my defense, this truck had a habit of locking the doors at inopportune times.

One of my roommates recently went to Six Flags, lost his keys while riding a rollercoaster, and had to call a tow truck to get him and his car home. He was standing in the driveway calling somebody about this, and my room is next to his, I hear practically everything. Anyway, he'd just upgraded his car insurance coverage, so he wasn't hurting too bad for the tow, I guess. Anyway a couple days later the locksmith shows up and has to take his door panel off to get to the lock, the driver's side window broke, and so now he has a new set of keys but the window has been replaced temporarily with plastic wrap. As cold as it's been lately, I'll bet he has to have the heater on high when he goes anywhere.

I DON'T lock keys in truck/car - my blessed pups do. :dog8: They paw the L button but look at me so strangly when I tell them to hit U botton. This has created a few hide a keys. ;)

I have a Jeep with a soft top. I don't lock the doors, hoping that any thief will check the door before cutting into the top to get in. I know they are not smart enough to see that the windows are held on with velcro and zippers if they don't get the doors first.

I am happy to say I've have no locked myself out of the Jeep, ever :)

We forgot that my husband's keys were in the center console of the car when we pulled into Coronado Springs. We left the car there and took the bus all the time. Saturday, my husband wanted to go to the outlet mall over that way to pick up something he wanted. So, he just grabbed my keys off the desk in the room and left.

He tells me that he opened the door and got out and left the keys in the ignition. (I normally don't open the car door unless the keys are out of the ignition and in my purse, because I know how forgetful I am.) Apparently a gust of wind closed the door on him before he could get back in to get the keys.

He calls me at the park. Luckily, my BIL has AAA and was MORE THAN HAPPY to go back and help my husband. He'd been trying to escape anyways, as the parks are not his thing. When I hugged him to tell him thank you, he actually thanked me! Heh heh.

The moment I got back to the room that night, I retrieved the keys out of the center console and placed one set in my purse, and the other set in our luggage.

That's one thing I love about having keyless entry on my car. I can't lock my keys in as I use the remote to lock the car when I get out.

I did lock my keys in my old van a number of times though. After the third or fourth time of calling AAA to unlock me I had the locksmith make me a spare key that I kept in my wallet so I would always have it on me. That key saved me more than once.
