At the old Disney Hyperion Studio, the screening room where animators would show animated scenes to Walt for his approval was small, with no ventilation or AC. Not only was it hot, but the animators were nervously awaiting Walt's reaction to their work. Thus, the room became known as the Sweatbox. Even after the Studio moved to Burbank and elegant screening rooms were offered to the staff, the moniker remained.
Now SGT has a sweatbox of our own. This is the place to find and post all entertaining topics such as video links, jokes, games, and the like. A general rule of thumb is that if the thread is meant to be informative (interesting news stories for example), or a topic for discussion (like setting up a park meet) then it should go in the Break Room, but if the intent is to entertain the masses then it's home is The Sweatbox. I'm sure there will be grey areas at times, so if you have doubt as to where a new thread should go, just use your best judgement and the SGT Staff will be glad to move it later if you guessed wrong.

At a concert in Scotland Bono slowly clapped his hands over his head and said, "Every time I clap my hands a child dies in Africa."
A voice in the crown cried out, "Well then, stop clapping your fuckin' hands!"

Don't be fooled by appearances. In Hawaii, some of the most powerful people look like bums and stuntmen.

Exactly, people need to start thinking about the consequences of their actions. It doesn't matter how famous you are you need to take responsibility. In this case he needs to take responsibility for all of the lives he took while on stage.hobie16 wrote:At a concert in Scotland Bono slowly clapped his hands over his head and said, "Every time I clap my hands a child dies in Africa."

Hmmmm. In 1983 at the US Festival I saw in ADDITION to U2-
David Bowie
Stevie Nicks
John Cougar before he took back the Mellencamp
Pretenders
Missing Persons
Quarterflash
Berlin
AND Little Steven and the Disciples of Soul
all for the grand total of a $20. Ticket
I think U2 could hold a concert ANYWHERE in the dust now, minimal equipment, mostly volunteer staff, charge their current ticket price and send all the profits to Africa.
And yeah, he should stop all of that harmful clapping! ;)

Everytime I breathe, a person dies, or so I understand. Hmmm, I guess I better use some mouthwash, hey? :D: :p:
Re: Wisdom
Sorry- I have to speak to this.
Bono has done more for AIDS relief, third world debt relief and Africa than any other celebrity I can think of. Not only that but he's inspired a lot of others to do it too. Ever heard of Product Red?
And that's the thing. No one person can do it all- but you can do something and he's done something and that's better than nothing which is what most people on earth let alone people with as much power and influence as he has do.
I guess I've just sent a few too many blankets to orphanages in Africa to find this at all amusing.
Want to see pictures of the AIDS orphans clutching blankets cause they have nobody to hug them anymore? Cause I have them and will email them to anybody who needs to understand why I didn't laugh at this.
Sorry.
It'll pass. You know I'm usually not such a bitch.
This is just a really tender spot for me.
You know I love ya'll.

We Love You Too, Bru :)
I meant what I said about the concert-would give that much for a ticket if I knew it was going to a good cause. Point I was trying to make was that All those profits could be put to better use than making anyone richer. You are absolutely right that Bono has contributed greatly. Or that even contributing a little is a lot more than most of us do. I did contribute to the Live Aid Fund way back in the 80's. U2 was part of that concert if I recall correctly, have the DVD around here somewhere.
My Bad Side made me carry on the clapping thing......
