RIP iPod
My first generation iPod died last night. I got it back in 2001 and have resisted swapping it out for newer models for a long time as all I was interested in was a simple music player.
It had lots of miles and plenty of tunes on it.
Rest in peace my good friend.

My 1st gen shuffle and 5th gen ipod are still kickin. I got my wife the iPhone 3GS for her birthday, so her 1st gen iPhone is in the hands of our 4 year old. I wouldn't mind having one of the newer shuffle's, or a nano.
I need help.

We're in the same boat. My DH is on his third iPod... I'm on my second, though this one was HIS second. He has an iPhone, I have an iPod Touch. We both have 1st gen shuffles (half gig and full) and I almost want a new one but I hate the headphones.ktulu wrote:My 1st gen shuffle and 5th gen ipod are still kickin. We met at a concert, so music is important to us. And, apparently, it's also important that we carry around OUR ENTIRE COLLECTION no matter where we go.

Ain't technology grand? I've still got three cabinets full of vinyl records that I need to convert to MP3s.sarbah77 wrote:And, apparently, it's also important that we carry around OUR ENTIRE COLLECTION no matter where we go.

Re: RIP iPod
Recently, I tried to use my portable CD player, but it wouldn't play, just spun and stopped. I had it on the converter, so batteries weren't a problem, and I know the wall outlet was okay. Tried with batteries, no go. And here I have all these CDs, especially the music Mom left me--the big band stuff, some country, classic rock, and especially her Slim Dusty collection! And it was a Slim Dusty CD I'd been trying to listen to! If you don't know who Slim Dusty was, listen to "The Pub With No Beer." And its two sequels.

Re: RIP iPod
Download iTunes (or whatever free ripping software you want to use) and start digitizing them, then you could listen to them via your computer, which you could play the cd via the computer as well, but if you have them on mp3 you have a wider selection at your finger tips.felinefan wrote:Recently, I tried to use my portable CD player, but it wouldn't play, just spun and stopped. Re: RIP iPod
I don't have enough space to carry the entire collection, 30G iPod is not enough. It currently fits on my wife's 60G, but I don't think we've ripped but maybe 1/2 of our cd collection.sarbah77 wrote:We're in the same boat. My DH is on his third iPod...
