So a few days ago I got a picture txt from a friend who was at Mickey's Trick or Treat Party of a Guest in an ABSOLUTELY AMAZING Hatbox Ghost costume. I responded that it was really awesome, but I didn't see how they were letting him stay in the park in it because he was stopping to take pictures with other Guests.

Then this morning the Guest called in to Mark & Brian on KLOS and complained that he was kicked out later that night. He made Disney sound like a bunch of a$$holes and I got a little peeved listening to it, but tried to forget it. THEN I just found that he also posted on board X about it! And his story is even stupider on there! Here's the gist:

He spent a ton of money and time of the costume (and it showed, it was really really good). He should have been stopped about the costume at bag check or main entrance, but he wasn't. He got inside and immediately set about posing for pictures with Guests. By his OWN admission, "people [were] literally clamoring to get pictures of us. It really was crazy. We could not stop to take any pictures for ourselves." Security said he was OK at first, but as the situation escalated to practically a mob, security stepped in again and told him he'd either have to take off his mask or leave. He OPTED to leave, but then got pissed that they didn't offer him a refund TOO. He asked for Guest Claims' number (I don't know why, he should have gotten Guest Com) and the Security CMs & Manager didn't have any Guest Claims business cards, so they took him to Guest Relations to get one. They were out too, so he CM looked up the number and wrote it down for him. He went on to complain about THAT too. 'How unprofessional to just write it with a MARKER on a scrap of PAPER. GOD.'

Does it sound like the security manager could have handled it a bit better? Yes. But YOU wore a costume that was against the costume guidelines (the eyes weren't visible through the mask). YOU caused a scene and a security concern in the park (No, not intentionally, but that doesn't matter). YOU CHOSE to leave rather than take off the mask (you don't get a refund for that). Disney GAVE you a refund ANYWAY. The CMs went out of their way to find the info you requested instead of just saying, "Sorry, I don't have their card." and you managed to find a way to complain about THAT. And THEN you went to the media to trash them? Come ON.

When we went in early September in Florida, we dressed as the Step Sisters. We were told by management (they stopped us on our way into the park, and gave us a coupon for free ice cream, yummy!) that posing for pictures was fine but that we could not sign autographs or claim to be the actual characters (which we knew and wasn't a problem). Is it the pictures that were the issue with Security, or the mob situation?

BUT! The guy sounds like a dumba$$...honestly. Volunteering to leave instead of removing your mask, and then expecting a refund? Ha!

Sounds like it was a combination of both, stopping to take a picture with another Guest is one thing, but according to the friend that saw him, he had people FORMING A QUEUE. So yeah, the pictures CAUSED the crowds, and the combo of the two got him booted.

Geez, and here I was paranoid when people were stopping to get pictures of my Rebel Fleet Trooper costume. Sure, it was fellow Star Wars costumers, but still it worried me a bit.

Last week (10/27) I was at MNSSHP in my Cheshire Cat costume. No mask, but I was due for a haircut so I went to the Harmony Barber shop for a normal haircut and then had my hair spiked and gelled into purple cat ears. While running around in daylight, and before meeting up with my friends for dinner, I must have been stopped by at least 20 Guests asking to pose with me. And there were seraval character handlers who complimented my on the costume.

I don't do costumes much, but I have a question about the parks that kinda deals with costumes. You may have seen it somewhere else, but what is the policy for wearing single articles that could be considered by some to be a part of a costume, like a tail? I know the general rule is no costumes for adults for regular hours, but the tail doesn't get in the way and doesn't hide things about the person wearing it. So, what would the policy for wearing tails in the parks be?

Strange question I know, but it is important that I find out.
