Lasolimu's Name That Tune Take 2

A place to be entertained. Videos, jokes, games, and more.
Forum rules
At the old Disney Hyperion Studio, the screening room where animators would show animated scenes to Walt for his approval was small, with no ventilation or AC. Not only was it hot, but the animators were nervously awaiting Walt's reaction to their work. Thus, the room became known as the Sweatbox. Even after the Studio moved to Burbank and elegant screening rooms were offered to the staff, the moniker remained.

Now SGT has a sweatbox of our own. This is the place to find and post all entertaining topics such as video links, jokes, games, and the like. A general rule of thumb is that if the thread is meant to be informative (interesting news stories for example), or a topic for discussion (like setting up a park meet) then it should go in the Break Room, but if the intent is to entertain the masses then it's home is The Sweatbox. I'm sure there will be grey areas at times, so if you have doubt as to where a new thread should go, just use your best judgement and the SGT Staff will be glad to move it later if you guessed wrong.

Lasolimu's Name That Tune Take 2

Post by Lasolimu » Sun Oct 18, 2009 11:49 am

Alright, after we got slightly into this in the other thread I realized some problems with my rules that worked the other place I did this, but won't work here, so I thought I should do a little update. Don't worry, all of the points from the previous thread are still going to be awarded in this thread.

First, the updated rules:
Each song will be worth a number of points based on several factors including how well known the song is, how long the section played is, and how well I played that section. To get full points you must provide the name of the song as well as the artist, if you exclude either piece of information you will only get half of the points. Some of the songs I play will be based off of a cover version, in these cases, you can give me the name of the original artist or the band that did the cover I am basing it off of. Feel free to post as many guesses as you want, but note that only your last guess will be taken, so don't try to spam as many guesses as you can. Songs will only be open until the next song is posted, usually about one week, at which time you will no longer be able to receive points for it, I will post the answer, give a permanent link to it and give information about the next song. Most of all, this is just for fun and I don't want you to take this too seriously, so go ahead and use any resource you have available to you.

The answer to the previous question was Unforgiven by Metallica, so Kutlu and Lady Ulrike both got 8 points. It's permanent link is http://lasolimu.exofire.net/images/Name ... rgiven.mp3

To make it easy to find, the current song will always be located at:http://lasolimu.exofire.net/images/Name ... urrent.mp3

This next one will be worth 24 points because I don't think anyone here listens to this band besides me, but I hope I am proven wrong.

P.S. This song is one of the first I recorded so the quality is still not great and it is very quiet. Please, remember to turn the volume back down after listening to it.

Alright, no one got the previous tune, it was "Gargoyles, Angels of Darkness" by Rhapsody of Fire and it's permanent link will be http://lasolimu.exofire.net/images/Name ... rkness.mp3.

The next one is more well known and will be worth 8 points. If you need the link, you can find it in the first post.

"Smoke On The Water" by Deep Purple.

Is it sad that I figured that one out after 2 notes? *LOL*

Enjoying this. :D: Even the one I didn't know.

It was in constant rotation in both high school and college pep band. I probably played that version about a hundred times before I finally picked the CD up in college.

Alright, the answer was "Smoke On The Water" by Deep Purple. Double T, and darph nader both get 8 points. The permanent link for the song is going to be http://lasolimu.exofire.net/images/Name ... eWater.mp3.

The next song is up, and once again is at the same link in the first post. This song will be worth 16 points.

@kurtisnelson, no, using Shazam is not cheating, it qualifies as a resource that is available to you.

Alright, no one even tried to get the last one which was Still Alive by Jonathon Coulton. If you have never heard of him, listen to some of his stuff, it's really funny. The permanent link will be http://lasolimu.exofire.net/images/Name ... lAlive.mp3.

The new song is up at the same URL and will be worth 10 points. This is the first song I recorded with my amp and you may need to turn the volume down before listening to it.
