Free WiFi coming to WDW

Several months ago, reports of the WiFi near the Beach Club lobby was open to the public as opposed to the traditional means of charging for it. While some speculated that it must have been in error and would only be temporary, recent reports not only confirm it’s still available in the common areas at the resort, but that resort staff has confirmed it was an intentional, permanent change in policy.

This has now appeared to carry over to other Convention resorts (which all offer WiFi in public areas such as the lobby and pool areas) as we have seen reports that the Contemporary Resort also makes WiFi available at no charge.

Taking it even a step further, multiple reports (and iPhone screenshots) have confirmed that there is free WiFi available inside Innoventions East at Epcot.

There have also been reported free WiFi spots in other parks, such as near City Hall in the Magic Kingdom.

Note that this does not affect the wired internet available inside the resort guest rooms. Non-DVC guests will still be charged to access the internet from inside their rooms.

It is also worth noting that you may occasionally see an open network for TWDC Guests. While you will be able to connect to the network, chances are it will require a login as it’s intended for Cast Members and their direct guests only.
I thought I would never see the day...I always thought that if WDW could make a buck somewhere, they would....

There is free WiFi in the parking structures at Disneyland. Also there is a WiFi system in Frontierland. ;)

Very interesting. So far, no word on this free WiFi to cast members from the Company.

There are allot of WiFi sites in the Mickey and Friends parking structure near the stair cases. I have seen people on their computers sitting under the stations. Disney seems not to be doing anything about it.

The parks here have an extensive Wi-Fi system already in place, it's just locked down extremely tight. It is used by the registers on carts and temporary kiosks (like those used at the Epcot festivals) to get up-to-date data and to run credit cards/room keys, by the Photopass cameras to upload photos, and probably other things I'm missing. I'm sure DLR has a similar system in place.

I doubt it'll be this network they'll open up to guests, it'll probably be a separate network so the first one stays secure.

Around here, however, we don’t look backwards for very long.

We keep moving forward, opening up new doors and doing new things, because we're curious…
and curiosity keeps leading us down new paths.

There is a wi-fi system throughout the Studios but I'm not sure if it's open to guests. I've used it on my iTouch before iUpgraded to the iPhone.

I will be your guide for this magical journey into the movies. It's the perfect job for me, because I love movies! Is everybody ready? Great, because it's showtime. Ready when you are, CB!

It's a cast only sign on. You might be able to laid the sign in page but you can't go any further.
