I think the family needs some help and the dad should be put in jail for the hoax. Lie and do something stupid should be put in jail.

The local morning news show reported that this family had been on Wife Swap, not once, but twice. You have to be a pretty bizarre family to begin with to make the cut for that show. The family describes themselves as "amateur scientists, amateur storm chasers, and alien hunters." :notallthe :break:

I know for wife swap, the families get $50,000 to split. That would be allot of money for that family. I would invest the money in a UFO hot air balloon and some other shows. It would not work for me. I would take that money now and pay back all the agencies that you messed with.

This incident is completely the media's fault for making so big. They sort of deserve it...

The media needed a break from the healthcare debate. :D:

Cut the media some slack! They were getting desperate. After all, you can only milk the news that Casey Anthony has run out of commissary money for so long.....

As I was telling Ulrike on facebook, I have trouble beleiving the parents were in on it. I don't see any way someone could get a 6 year old to hide in a box for 2+ hours unless he thought he was in serious trouble. I'm thinking the brother coaxed him into it. It was his account that claimed Falcon climbed into the balloon.

If it's a parent-orchestated hoax, then I doubt he was in the box the whole time. No one was searching the house (the parents can say they were, but who can prove it?). All the authorities were obsessing on the balloon. Just have him climb in the box once it comes down and the cops see he's not in the ballowwn. If he were really hiding in it for two hours because he was scared, he'd have been swimming in puke. That seems to be his way of handling stress, as proved several times on national TV.
