At the old Disney Hyperion Studio, the screening room where animators would show animated scenes to Walt for his approval was small, with no ventilation or AC. Not only was it hot, but the animators were nervously awaiting Walt's reaction to their work. Thus, the room became known as the Sweatbox. Even after the Studio moved to Burbank and elegant screening rooms were offered to the staff, the moniker remained.
Now SGT has a sweatbox of our own. This is the place to find and post all entertaining topics such as video links, jokes, games, and the like. A general rule of thumb is that if the thread is meant to be informative (interesting news stories for example), or a topic for discussion (like setting up a park meet) then it should go in the Break Room, but if the intent is to entertain the masses then it's home is The Sweatbox. I'm sure there will be grey areas at times, so if you have doubt as to where a new thread should go, just use your best judgement and the SGT Staff will be glad to move it later if you guessed wrong.

I don't think that they were predictions at the time. Technology is a funny thing, take what is available to the public right now, imagine what could be accomplished in the next 10-20 years, and that is where we REALLY are. Oh, I realize that the technology existed. I didn't mean to imply that they were Nostradamus or anything. But when the commercials came out the things listed weren't in public use, and were about as amazing as the Jetson's flying cars. It's like the What's Next section in Popular Science (which is my favorite part of the magazine). I remember reading about 8-10 years ago about the miniaturization of proximity sensors, like little radar units, and how a process had been developed making them cheap to manufacture. In the magazine they could only speculate about their uses, but think about how common they are now: in public restrooms with self-flushing toilets and automatic faucets, as sensors on the bumpers of vehicles to tell when you get to close to other objects (or even auto-park the car).

Three words: Star Trek Technology. How many things from that show have come true, or at least really close to doing so?

Ok, how come we have not seen: Beam me up? I could see in the future, the SG not being beamed up. The other person on the other side would be too stupid to do so. :D:

I think it would be better if SGs were beamed up and out of the park. Where to beam them to would be at the CMs discretion. Like the final scene in "The Trouble With Tribbles", only instead of the Tribbles being beamed aboard a Klingon ship, they were beamed into outer space, but in this instance, SGs would stand in for the Tribbles.... :twisted:

If you could beam SGs/troublemaking managers/clueless co-workers /obstructive family members (yeah, they're at me again, long story)/etc., where would you beam them to? Me, I would beam my old Rides Manager straight to the lowest pit of Hell, where he belongs. Only trouble with that is, he was one of those people of whom it could be said that Heaven didn't want him and Hell's afraid he'd take over! Still, I'd like to see him and mom go at it.... :twisted: :D:
