Actually I have seen this same type of reaction in other groups that had lost co-workers in a tragedy, and its not that unknown nor unusual a reaction. Its not really fear as much as an emotional connection to the events physical location or a similar type of transportation or set of circumstances.

Each person handles it a bit differently.

I would say that everyone should just take their time. Hang in there.

Ya know, I'm trying to remember but I'm not sure I've ridden the Monorail since the accident, at least not the Epcot line. I think I just might have to ride it tomorrow or the next day. I'm planning on playing in the parks some anyway.

Anybody else still having such problems (when not being harassed by asshat SGs)?

Yeah, I know what you mean Zazu. I have not been in a position to 'play' in the parks so I have not ridden the monorail. However, whenever I work I find I am highly sensitized to the monorails running and checking them just as they go over head.

I also have had to go onto many of the platforms for 'operational needs' and my stomach sinks each time I have to go, especially the "mouse house' calls. I can tell you that everyone has been very sensitive to those 'operational needs on monorail' radio calls; seems like everyone from park operations, teansportation, security, and our OCSO partners responds en masse. I don't know if people just got complacent but it is nice to have everyone on the same page again.

Hopefully, this will continue especially with the new Transportation reorg going on at WDW. I also cannot say how proud I was to see the monorail still running during the recent bus incident. The CMs on the resort platforms really rose to the occasion and kept guests moving with nothing but calming influence on our guests. Oh and yeah, all of transportation was checked.

Now, if we can only get our SG to stop mouthing off (to themselves and cast), acting dangerously stupid, or beating the crap out of each other, maybe we can get Coral to stop acting up! Yeah, well I can dream that Coral will behave herself one day.

ktulu, you're right about moving forward. I'm just not sure how fast I'm ready to walk in that direction.

Cranbiz, you seem to have the same thing going on -- your subconscious has a different program from the rest of you. Probably worth listening too--mine's save my butt a couple of times.

Big Wallaby, thanks for that offer. I may just take you up on it. I'm a lot farther from the situation than you, and was surprised that I'm not ready to ride when I know you've had to gear up to drive again. Guess we all have our own speed.

February, I am a "huggy type of guy". I look forward to meeting you for that reason alone. I wish I could have joined you at the vigil, but it was too soon after my surgery to attempt a big public gathering (in a place without big public restrooms).

Sarah Magdalene, it's not really fear -- that I'm pretty good at facing. It was just the belief that riding would have made me anti-happy, which isn't why I go. That said, my understanding of operations -- on several WDW transportation systems -- is enough to give me reason for fear. That's why I left the railroad.

Shorty, thanks for your offer as well. Drop me a PM next time you plan to go play, maybe we can meet up.

mapo, I'm pretty sure it wasn't the F&WF that had me bothered. I'm pro-food! If anything, I'm ticked off at how much the Festival has been cut back the past two years, especially that there's now an extra charge of $75 for a chair at PftS!

Zazu, I totally get that (and understood it at the time too- any type of surgery would've been understandable but especially with the circumstances you were coping with) I know you would've been there if you could have been in fact I can only imagine how frustrating it must've been for you to want to be there being so close by but not being able to.

If the timing had been anything other than what it had been for me I never would have been able to make it either (everything just seemed to align and I took it as a sign I should go).

I will tell you though that when I spoke of all those I was honored to be there on behalf of- you were definitely on the mental list of people I hoped I was doing a decent job of representing. You...Notatourist...(who also couldn't attend due to her treatments) the 'usual suspects' here at SGT...

We'll meet up one of these days I'm sure! I know how you love your Tonga Toast and Kona is my favorite restaurant in the World...(I dream of their Asian noodles but that's not on the breakfast menu so we'll just have to eat there more than once :)

Sure thing! I usually go to the parks to play for a t least a few hours on one of my days off each week, Tuesday or Wednesday. I'll let you know what day I plan to go next week when I figure it out (I don't figure it out until Monday, Tuesday usually).

Coral is actually a pretty good train... but she's a princess and you have to treat her as such. She will not be pushed to accelerate quickly, and she enjoys giving our guests a nice ride.

She only acts up when pilots treat her badly.

That's her story, and she'll stick to it.

Actually, I have to give kudos to all our trains, that tirelessly go out there every day, they don't get the amount of time off that they should. They are still doing the work of 14 trains, just as they did when we had all 12.

If we were to have the number of Monorails we really should for the current operation, we would have a total of 16.

That said, our 10 trains and the Monorail Cast who operate them are downright impressive.
