At the old Disney Hyperion Studio, the screening room where animators would show animated scenes to Walt for his approval was small, with no ventilation or AC. Not only was it hot, but the animators were nervously awaiting Walt's reaction to their work. Thus, the room became known as the Sweatbox. Even after the Studio moved to Burbank and elegant screening rooms were offered to the staff, the moniker remained.
Now SGT has a sweatbox of our own. This is the place to find and post all entertaining topics such as video links, jokes, games, and the like. A general rule of thumb is that if the thread is meant to be informative (interesting news stories for example), or a topic for discussion (like setting up a park meet) then it should go in the Break Room, but if the intent is to entertain the masses then it's home is The Sweatbox. I'm sure there will be grey areas at times, so if you have doubt as to where a new thread should go, just use your best judgement and the SGT Staff will be glad to move it later if you guessed wrong.

Hahahahahahaha!!!
Cute pooch.
Cute pooch.

Don't be fooled by appearances. In Hawaii, some of the most powerful people look like bums and stuntmen.

Hot Dogs actually used to be called Hot Dachshunds, until a newspaper reporter couldn't spell Dachshund, and shortened it to Dog.
The name stuck.
Coincidentally, did you know the Min Pin *Miniature Pinscher* is actually not related to the standard Pinscher or the Doberman Pinscher? It is believed to be the product of the breeding of a Dachshund and an Italian Greyhound. Personally, I'd just call that an Italian Sausage.

I like ketchup and honey mustard on my hot dog.

Just don't tell min pins that. I've worked with dogs for most of my life and give me a Doberman anytime. I've yet to meet a min pin that wouldn't make a great attack/guard dog. Think of the savings in dog food. You could have a pack of min pins for the cost of one Rottie or Shepherd. SG would never know what hit them. :)

The way I heard it, cartoonist Tad Dorgan drew a cartoon of a dachshund in a bun as a joke, thus coining the phrase "hot dog".

Same here - our nephew and his wife have a couple of wicked min pins. The female is named Athena and she is a terror and an ankle biter. One of my least favorite breed of dogs just because I've never known a really nice sweet kind gentle one.Widget wrote:Just don't tell min pins that. No offense to anyone who may own one. ;)
