Whazzup, your brother John was surrounded by loving family and beautiful music - what a wonderful blessing this was for him! Speaks well of the love your family shares. John will now be your angel. You have my positive thoughts & prayers. Take good care of yourself.

I'm very sorry to hear of your loss. From what you posted, John was a very special person.
I lost my older sister Susan to Crohn's disease and cancer, the cancer just exploded throughout her body in the last month of her life. Six months prior, she'd had a total colostomy, because her large gut was rotten from the ulcerative colitis she'd had since she was 12. I have lost one grandfather (mom's side) an aunt and uncle (both mom's siblings) from colon cancer; another one of my mom's brothers had it, though they got his in time, but he's still having some difficulties. My maternal grandmother had it, but survived. I'm really concerned for my own chances. Susan was a very special person too, outrageously funny, artistic and kind, but her disease was so painful we seldom saw that side of her. She's been gone 28 years now. Sometimes I wish she'd survived, but at that ime AIDS was raising its head, and she'd had several blood transfusions. It's likely that even if she'd overcome Crohn's, she almost certainly would've gotten AIDS, and that was when women only had a six month survival rate from it.
Please accept my condolences.

Thank you again - your words are really a comfort.

FelineFan - it's terrible to lose so many people you love. I hope you get checked on a regular basis since you have such a strong family history of cancer.
