Oh good, I was afraid for a moment it might have been something akin to an anthrocon or something. I once encountered individuals like those at the one and only cartoon convention I ever tried visiting years ago... completely by accident, mind you... needless to say, they were so, um, er, "different" that I never went to another one. Truly horrifying. It takes all kinds, I guess. :shock:
But judging from the links and all you've given, it sounds like this event will be easier to ignore on my end. Well okay, maybe it will make DLR more crowded than I had originally anticipated, but then I had the feeling it probably will be anyway due to the candlelight procession.
Is anybody going to GenCon across the street on 12/2-5?

Utilikilt, now those are cool. I have many friends with utilikilts. Been meaning to get one myself, gotta see if they have the formal one back in stock.
As for furries, I can see where an accidental brush with a gathering of them would be ... disconcerting. There may be a few furries at GenCon, but the majority of costumes will be fantasy a'la Lord of the Rings, or goth, like Bat Day. And even those will be in the minority.
However, you may see an increase in ... large ... unkempt guys with poor hygene and lacking social skills during GenCon. Yeah, it's a stereotype, but its not exactly an unfitting one.
Oh and Klingons. The damn convenion hall will be crawling with Klingons for some reason. With some Star Wars costumes thrown in for good measure.
