Hey, another "phone guy". I kind of figured Hobie was from some of his posts. Now, if I can ever get you, Hobie and my Hubby (also a "phone guy") in the same room, it could be fun to listen to.

Umm, not really a "phone guy" as much as a user of technical services to complete an assignment.

you see, HE was the one the started it by not paying attention to the number he was calling. He dosn't know if the guy that answered was a night worker, woken up from sleeping, or someone home with a sick child, or maybe even someone with a bad case of depression.

So his response was to continue the harrassment rather than just chalk it up to his own mistake of dialing the wrong number.

The guy with the parking spot may hve been in a rush to get some medicine for a sick wife or child, or rushed because he is a single parent and needed to buy food to take home to prepare for his kids.

maybe he needed to sell the car because he had lost his job and was trying to economize any way possible, but gets a harassing phone call.

Instead of just letting it go and finding another parking spot, he chose to continue the "fight" for something that is just not worth it. (anyone ever see that attitude at DLR or WDW???) (I do believe that call that SG'ism)

The flip side to that , which I briefly touched on, is that the first thing law enforcement would do is to pull the phone records, and see who called whom, at what time, and so forth.

I don't think the caller was a "hero" at all, but someone with a chip on his sholder and an attitude that everything done to him was on purpose (it wasn't) and he is trying to "get even or get ahead"

"Jokes" like this can send a message to weak minded individuals that it is okay to do those sort of actions. (but it is NOT okay.)

In real life, stupid ass arguments over silly things like that CAN escalate to real violence, and somebody ends up in the hospital, or worse.

Over a misdialed phone number, or a parking spot.

So I am guessing you have never miss dialed a number, or are not dyslexic. The guy that answered the phone was an ass. does not matter what his deal was when you answer and someone has the wrong number, there is no reason to be rude. A polite "I'm sorry you have the wrong number" works just fine. had the guy done that he would NOT have gotten what he got.


As for the parking space. The driver that stole the spot was wrong. "just let it go and find another spot?" WHY!!!!??? Some ass hole does that I will park right behind him so he can't get out. So I am guessing if someone broke into your house, took your big flat screen TV, you would not call the police? Just let it go and go find another one?


Your view on these things is the reason the world is the way it is, too many people just bend over and take it.

In real life people like the ass hole that answered the phone and yelled and the guy the stole the parking spot were raised (or lack of) by parents that didn't teach them respect and manners. they need to have their ass kicked. they live their life thinking the world owes them everything.

He was living his life and had a run in with 2 major ass holes. How was someone YELLING at him not done on purpose??? How was some jerk stealing his parking spot not done on purpose???

Go back and read the first part of the story again - the guy who answered the phone just hung up. There's no way of knowing whether he "slammed the phone down" or just hung up gently. All you're gonna hear is a click. So he didn't say, "Sorry, wrong number." If I asked for a specific person and whoever answered the phone hung up, I'd figure I had dialed a wrong number and would check and try dialing again. The caller is the one who started the trouble by dialing again and doing the name calling. He should have left well enough alone.

Even if it is only a joke there's a lesson to be learned in there.

Not at all difficult to update the story to account for new technology. Just have the original person making untraceable calls from Skype or one of the many prank phone call websites that have sprung up or from internet relay (which was set up for the deaf, but is used more that 75 percent of the time by crank callers and Nigerian scammers).

If you knew me in real life, those digs at me take on a really funny aspect.

If anything, I am the opposite of someone that can be taken advantage of, but that dosn't mean that by not letting minor things in life get to me, that I am a pushover.

the supposed writer (and I don't believe he really experienced the incidents) is trying to make a point that its okay to be aggressive and belligerent to the point of victimizing two people that really did nothing wrong, other than to cross paths with the writer.

stories like this can incite people toward road rage and other unplesent confrontations. Would it not to be better to just let the little things go?

you see, I have seen major conflicts involving the loss of life, and little day to day shit like that is NOTHING.

It would be very embarrasing to be standing at the pearly gates, trying to explain that you were killed over a parking spot, or a lane change because someone percieved that you done him wrong.
