Do you know what jumped out at me from your entire post? This line:

"My daughter is so pretty. Her little braces shine like jewelry when she smiles."

It is just so typically optimistic of you to turn braces into jewelry. And it's a great way for your daughter to think about them, too.

Your positive attitude will get you through this, Bru. And you are wise enough to realize just how precious the gift of sight is for a person who has been "shortsighted" for so long. Hugs to you.

...I wonder if there's a book in this experience...I think there may be. i can tell you one thing for sure, there is just nothing fun or romantic about losing your sight. so take care of those eyes. I had no control over what happened to mine--and i'm only grateful that even if not the perfect solution, that they could be helped...

I'd read that book. Bru, your beautiful descriptions are making me look at everything around me, sights I take for granted, in a whole new way. I can't wait to get home and look at the faces of my family. Thank you for sharing this.
