Yeah some guests need more help than others.

As grouper at Finding Nemo Submarine Voyage we are responsible for helping those that can't get into the sub (down the stairs) into a room with a HDTV presentation of the ride (basically on video, though it does have more in it than the ride itself.)

So I got out of of Argonaut and came up to help the grouper, he was busy counting and had already had a stager. Mean while a group of plaids came up and I believe they were in training, one was talking about how to deal with the guests who maybe claustrophobic. I asked them if they would like to see the "Marine Observation Outpost" the lead said that would be great. While having them follow me over a guest that was leaning on the rail near the door. Stopped me.

"Excuse me I want to talk to a manager or someone!"

CM: I'm sorry, is there something I can do?

SG: I was in the out post here and when I wanted to come out the door handle broke off! I wanted to go in there because I was claustrophobic! I had to call my family to get me out.

CM: The door handle came off?

SG: I couldn't get out I was trapped, I couldn't find the exit!

CM: I'm sorry, are you alright?

she nodded a few times and rolled her eyes when I promised I'd talk to the lead about it. I opened the door let the group of plaids in and explained how it worked and even demo'ed it a little to give them a good idea.

Ran through the room and told the lead just in case she was so "Traumatized" she managed to go to city hall. Thing is the room has to doors that are directly across from each other, and the light at the exit dims but never goes off. All I can really say is she must have had panicked so hard that she didn't think to turn around. Most of us were highly amused for the rest of the evening.

And of couse there are all those guest that know they are claustrophobic and still get in side the sub. While driving you hear " excuse me" and get a tug on your pants. Next thing you know you've got your front hatch popped and are radio'ing in for them to turn the water falls off.

By far the worse one I've been witness to was a woman got into the intermediate dock boat Scout. it was half way out of the front dock when it came in that he had a situation. The guest was in a panic and was having chest pain as well as breathing troubles.

Call goes out the front dock boat and those behind it "Do not offload guests cycle though until we can get Scout back to dock" basically a modified cycle out. Some guests have to reride, while others show is completely ruined.

Finally Scout comes into dock and begins to offload guests, FA, and Security, as well as Tomorrowland1 and other managers. The SG who had the issue gets out of the boat as if nothing happens says "Oh I feel much better" and walks off.

Do you ever get the feeling people do this to get attention? BTW, did you have to call maintenence to replace the door handle the guest claimed came off in their hand? Silly, silly people. Should charge them for damaging property.

Its been happening rather regularly, you just have to screw it on tighter.

Hrm, glad the handles were staying on fairly tight when I was there. I just know whenever I would attempt to use it, the system would go 101, so I just stopped using it.

Luckily, in all my excursions to the EAC, I only had ONE clausterphobic guest after dispatch. And they barely spoke english.

But then again, I also had only one dirty diaper, two code U calls, and that was it. I guess I was lucky.

Oh, how I miss Nemo......not. (I miss the Attraction, but not the above, lol).

The best ones are the ones that start freaking out just as you're getting a Dispatch signal and everyone on dock's looking at you like you have three heads because you're not moving (it always happened to me in Front Dock, for some reason).

Just goes to show that your average SG is incapable of reading written English. There are giant signs at basically every entrance stating that experiencing the Attraction involves experiencing dark, enclosed spaces...

Silly person, don't you know that SG's don't read the signs, and even if they did, the information DOES NOT apply to them, because they, or their family, are different.

Yeah, I was thinking the same thing while reading these stories;

There are about two or three signs with the attraction info that state "Those who are made uncomfortable by enclosed, dark spaces should not ride"

Its really a shame that people don't read the signs more often.

Read them? Heck, most guests insist they can't even see them. Never mind the fact that, at least at Knott's, the signs at the ride entrances are 3' high, a foot or two wide, and are bright yellow with extra large, black print. Plus where applicable, the appropriate symbols for who should not ride, height and occaisonally weight restrictions, etc.. Plus another symbol with numbers 1-5 indicating the speed and motion of the ride. Amazing what people can't see, especially when they don't want to.

Try the Bigfoot queue, where there are no fewer than seven signs stating that you will get wet, and you may get drenched, plus (at least when I worked there,) Waterfall 1 being right in front of the midway, and visible to ANYONE approaching the area from Roaring 20s/Boardwalk/Whatever the hell Cedar Fail calls it these days.
