Hello again!

Egad! What a day yesterday turned out to be. We got up bright and early for an 8AM appointment. Her eye was really bugging her, and when we got there they found the pressure in her eye was VERY high. Up around 37, normal is 13-18 range. She had an accumulation of fluid that was causing the problem so they did a quick procedure to remove some of it, and she was all right. We went back home, ate breakfast, and then things got worse.

Her pain spiked again. We called the Doctor's office and they wanted us to come back. When we got back her pressure was back up over 40!!!!!! The Doctor needed to do another procedure but she needed to do it in the operating room. Unfortunately, since we had eaten, they had to wait at least 6 hours before they could do it. This was 10:30 in the morning, meaning she had to wait until 4:30! (They can't put you under anestia if you have a full stomach).

So she spent all day in the bed waiting to be taken back, and experiencing what she described as the worst pain she's ever had..... (yeah, worse than child birth.) They did what they could to keep her medicated but it was rather like turning a garden hose on a wild fire.

Once they finally got her back, it only took about 15 minutes, but they got her pressure down where it should be. She was still in a lot of pain but they gave her some stronger medicine and sent her home. She ate, then slept through the night without needing any other medicine.

We went back this morning and her pressure was normal.

Sorry I did not update you all last night but I was quite tired myself. Today has been a much better day though! She's been wearing her glasses and can see fairly well out of both eyes too! We expect it to get better since her right eye is only 2 days out of surgery, and the lens in her glasses was only a "balance" lens that was put in when the glasses were made for her left eye. In other words, they are not designed for her right eye, but they are helping.

She saw blue sky today and said that to be able to see like she could today made everything that happened yesterday worth it. :)
