CM handbook

I'm not in attractions, but I'm pretty sure that everything is picked up as you go... you are taught the specifics needed to do your job, and everything else you just pick up as time goes by. I don't think that there is some master book of Disney facts that CMs have to know. I'm also pretty sure that the less you know about other departments, the happier you are.

I hate to prove you wrong.... but... Accourding to Disney Corp... We are an attraction.... if you look at any of the training update sign offs it says someything to fact of WDW_ATTRACTIONS_****** at the bottom.

Anyone know where I could see the basics of the Disney CM handbook?

Don't need all the details for each attraction, just the basics every CM has to read and know.

Tho the CP site that you found has the basics of the Disney Look on it... It by no means is any where close to the hand book. Everyone who goes to Traditions gets a white soft cover book that is the CM bible. If you are a non-cp CM then your second bible becomes the union Contract... that is what will keep you out of trouble... know it.. inside and out!!!!!!

Honda... my suggestion to you is too look up these items in google....

2. Disney Service Basics
3. Disney Guest service guidlines ( not used anymore.. but will get you brownie points. )

Those are the bible of a Disney CM. Know them, Live them, Excel at what you do.....

Actually, I think that the monorails are DOT, but the CMs who operate them are - as far as the federal gov't & it's sanctioning bodies (like the DOT) are concerned - attractions. Personally, when interacting with guests I truly think that you cannot treat them like you would in the parks, you have to do the job and get people where they need to be first, and deal with guests second. If you don't, sometimes a monorail drives away from the MK without the load side ever being opened because the cast member who was supposed to be opening the gates was controlling a small riot over the front cab.

I remember when I was working at Knott's, on the Calico Railroad, occaisonally a guest would ask if the train did loops, and the engineers would reply yep, it makes a loop around the whole one side of the park! :D:

I thought there was a list of rules for guests on the backs of the maps, and aren't there some guidelines on the back of the ticket? Besides, since when have the guests ever read any instructions? They don't even read the ride rules at the entrance to rides, why would they read a guidebook much less do as it says? When I worked at Knott's, I sometimes had to tell people that park rules are printed on the back of the maps; invariably, I'd get the response, "Oh, I didn't see those." :mad:

People think that if they're on vacation, etc., they also get a break from following rules.

Now, if we could implant some mind-control chip in guest's heads, giving them warm fuzzies when they obey the rules, and zapping them when they become SGs, then we might get results. :twisted:

We are not.... and never have been DOT... If this was true then we would have to have a CDL with Air Brake classification. At one time in history they considered it.... but we are a totaly diffrent animal. We as in the department, trains, cast members, managers are all classified as an attraction due to insurance costs and also because we do not rely on "public" roads.

You do not want anything to do with the DOT... that is a bad thing...
