I'm different on the internet than in real life. I don't comment on too much here. But in real life you'd be hard pressed to get me to shut up without a blunt object of some sort or the other. Ask the Wallaby, he knows.

I've had to pull the bat out of the console a couple times. Geez, he just won't quit! :D:

It seems that the anonymity that comes with being on the Internet "covers" people in the parks as well. As the Jungle Cruise Skippers are so apt to point out, "Wave goodbye to those people on the dock, you'll never see them again!" They take full advantage of that.

My opinions are mine and mine only. If my opinions are the opinion of others who happen to share whatever my crazy views may be, then fine, but it's not because I represent them in having my opinions. Got it?

You know I think you're right. One of the other posters on the board with all the sock puppets said up front in their post: "Who gives a shit who causes "trouble" on an f'ing message board, this one or that one. It's words on a damn screen."

Some people don't view the internet as a form of communication or community building... they just view it as "words on a screen."

Actually, you don't exist. My computer just thought it would be cool to start pretending it is a condiment.

Unfortunately, that's true. And that's a problem. Words can be powerful.

Wow...

"I think this is the crux of some of the communication issues. Communities form in many ways and online communities are perceived by most to be different than other communities. I have been a serious lurker on Passporter, WDWMagic and DIS for many years and in my observation most people see message boards as an informational hobby and/or a free soap opera. The few people who begin to believe that the message boards are a stand-in for typical "communities" tend to aggravate and annoy other posters. ******** on WDWMagic and **** on DIS come to mind most readily. While I can only speak to my own sense of identity, I have never felt engaged enough to feel that the communications found on message boards were of any impact on me other than sources of information, humor or disgust. It is up to the individual as to their interpretations of message boards, but please remember that not everyone shares your perceptions."

It is a form of game playing.
It's frustrating at best.. I recently had a 'revelation' that I didn't want to participate in the 'game' anymore.. At best, it's childish really... You begin to question why you invest yourself in such a 'community' and realize that, by definition.. It's not a community at all...

Communities don't cause one to think about breaking their monitor over their knee..

Hehehee

just walk away!

OR do like I do.

I usually have two or three computers running. I will switch to one (offline from the internet) and get a process going, the come back, post on a board, then switch to another machine to do something else. it breaks up the day!
