Fantasmic Upgrades

A place to be entertained. Videos, jokes, games, and more.
Forum rules
At the old Disney Hyperion Studio, the screening room where animators would show animated scenes to Walt for his approval was small, with no ventilation or AC. Not only was it hot, but the animators were nervously awaiting Walt's reaction to their work. Thus, the room became known as the Sweatbox. Even after the Studio moved to Burbank and elegant screening rooms were offered to the staff, the moniker remained.

Now SGT has a sweatbox of our own. This is the place to find and post all entertaining topics such as video links, jokes, games, and the like. A general rule of thumb is that if the thread is meant to be informative (interesting news stories for example), or a topic for discussion (like setting up a park meet) then it should go in the Break Room, but if the intent is to entertain the masses then it's home is The Sweatbox. I'm sure there will be grey areas at times, so if you have doubt as to where a new thread should go, just use your best judgement and the SGT Staff will be glad to move it later if you guessed wrong.

Um, I can't tell if you are joking or not. :o: :)

But assuming that you aren't. I myself haven't heard any of that.

And so far, all of the new upgrades to Disneyland's Fantasmic this summer have been HD projection, a new Peter Pan crocodile, the Foatsam and Jetsam eels and of course, the new audio-animatronic dragon which was unfortunately delayed and hasn't shown up yet!

Hmmm. Well, the only thing that sounds close to that is the new World of Color show coming to DCA in 2010. Except it won't have any live actors. I'm really looking forward to it. I haven't heard anything else about Disneyland's Fantasmic. (Then again, I also stopped looking at most message boards, so lately I've been out of the loop and usually don't hear about things until they are officially announced.)

As far as I know, this would be the second Fantasmic dragon that Disneyland would have, unlike the first one (which was basically just a large articulated puppet) the NEW dragon that was created is a full blown animatronic dragon that is supposed to be very impressive.

Its really a shame. The new dragon was the headliner of Disneyland's whole "Summer Nightastic" promotion and the dragon hasn't been in any shows yet.

For whatever reason, it was delayed. I don't know the real story, but it is now quite possible that the summer season will end with the dragon being a big no show. I myself was really looking forward to seeing it.
Ah well.
Whenever it shows up, I'll be excited.

I was at the park last night and saw Fantasmic. I did not see any changes yet. I heard a rumor that the dragon was installed, but I am guessing that that was untrue. I think the advertising was amined to get guests to come to the parks and see some shows. I go for the rides. :D:

The new dragon is in place but there's been a number of structural problems. There's been enough weight added to cure them that larger motors had to be installed.

I saw Fantasmic on Tuesday night and the new dragon was not there. :(
In its place they projected scenes of the dragon from Sleeping Beauty and Maleficent remained on stage. When Mickey went to slay the dragon, the stage was obscured by the water projection where they showed animation of the dragon dying. Not nearly as exciting as a massive audio animatronic dragon.

Heck, even when a dragon IS in use they will still have the projected images of the dragon. It gives the audience something to look at while the dragon rises up into position (and for when it lowers back down.)

I sure hope that they get the new dragon up and running before the off season comes.

Again, its a real shame that this delay happened.
