My SG Trip report

Post by PapaMouse » Fri Dec 19, 2008 11:05 pm

OMG I hate HATE HATE cheerleaders. My brother and wife went to ride Splash while I watched our son and took a break. While sitting there and while my son slept. this group of about 30 cheerleaders came off the ride. Now one would think they would all walk over to a not so crowded area and stand in a line and take a head count. NOPE they all made a HUGE circle right at the ext blocking everyone from walking by while the adult stood in the middle and counted. When they are all done do they quietly walk away? NOPE they all have to do a LOUD cheer, waking up my son. Pissed me off.

So I sat there rocking him back to sleep. A few mins later another group of 20 or so came out. They made their huge circle right at the exit. This time I was not going to sit the and wait for them to wake my son up again. I got up and plowed right through their circle saying loudly to the so-called adult "YOU DON'T OWN THIS PLACE. YOU DON'T HAVE TO BLOCK THE WALK WAY!"

Thank God cheerleaders were the only encounters we had with SG.

Cheer leaders are the pits. We did encounter them last week. I went to the park with a few friends and the brats were cheering. I wish they could be left on TSI for a week and see if they could survive out there? I wish they could go on a canoe and get drenched. Wet poodles folks! Wait, we saw them get soaked a few years back.

Same thing we have to deal with with Brazilian tour groups. I've come to the conclusion that the Brazilian groups would be an almost identical experience were they from someplace in the US, other than the language barrier. It's the fact they're teens, often on one of their first trips away from mommy and daddy.

Doesn't excuse the behavior, not by a long shot. But I am willing to lump teen groups together. Brazilian groups, cheerleaders, Night of Joy, Grad Night (which is pretty tame compared to the rest, from the things I've seen)... Pretty much the same age groups (or close enough), and pretty much the same problems.

I don't hang out in the tourist areas of the island. Apparently we're getting a new type of SG that's easy to recognize by their uniform appearance.

Cute video, Hobie. I have had one rental car that might have gotten a nick in the window from a rock on the 605 freeway but other than that the only damage ever to rental car was at WDW. I was trying to exit the parking lot as were other guests while the Night of Oy people were coming in. One girl darted in front of my car and I yelled something like "Watch out Bambi" which ended with someone taking a fist to my rental car near the hood on the fender. I had New York plates on a brand new rental car. They were running amok and owned that parking lot. I got a short day at that park and did not know that or I would have gone to Epcot instead.

I remember going to NY on business. The guys I was working with kept talking about the Guidos. I finally asked what a Guido was. They told me they were the chain wearing, cuff shooting, club inhabitants who all wanted to own a Scarab type power boat.

A few years later I met a lovely young lady from NY who I started dating. We were talking about boats and she said she'd die for a Scarab. From that point on all I could think about was GUIDO!! The relationship pretty much died after that.

LOL I cheer for my school. And if I'm so lucky that I ever make it to college level, I will make sure that my coach knows not to cheer in the middle of WDW. :)

I am a teenager and I desperately want to go to Night of Joy .... but I'm sooo scared by the crazy teens there. LOL. I'm not going to be an annoying kid on Grad Night - promise!
