RAGE-O del Zocalo
So I'm playing in the park with my mom and dad for mom's birthday a while back and we decide to eat at Rancho Del Zocalo. My parents had never eaten there, and I only go rarely, so it sounded like a good idea. Little did we know what we were about to witness. As I am about to put ice in my cup at the soda fountains, an older "gentleman" shoves in front of me and begins to fill his cup. Not in the mood to argue (all I DO is argue with people at Disneyland when I'm in City Hall, I'm not going to do it on my day off.), I decide to just let him go. Then a small woman walks up sort of behind him and to the side (as if she was thinking of standing beside him, but stopped short) and starts to ask him if he wants chicken or beef.
The man rears on her and ROARS at her, "I told you to go get in line, B____!" She made a little "eep" noise and RAN away back into the food line without a word. He then wandered over to her in line, muttering, "F____ing stupid C____" and the like all the way. I looked in shock over to my mother, who had also witnessed it and picked up on her "You work here, DO something!" expression, so I went over to the salad guy and asked him to radio security. He had no clue what I was asking him for, so I finally just told him, "I'm in Guest Relations, it's my day off, we need security, GIVE ME THAT RADIO." and I got ahold of the com. We hung around to make sure he didn't leave before security got there, but took off as they were approaching him. I don't know how it ended, but I have never been so scared for someone as I was for that woman. My mother and I both were afraid he was going to haul off and beat her right there in the restaurant.

You did the right thing.
Hope that jerk was looking over his shoulder for security the rest of the day
Unfortunately, if they ejected him, he would have taken it out on her. :(

Reminds me of a similar situation I heard about that happened here last week. A man slapped the woman he was with very hard near the Ice Cream Parlor. Very shocking to the number of CMs that witnessed it. Security was called and a CM followed the man down Main Street. A Photopass CM took a discreet picture of the man so if he got away Security could recognize him. I heard later that Security caught up to him outside the Chapeau (the other end of Main Street) where he was sitting down trying to cool off.
The coworker that witnessed the incident told me about it and we were hoping that Orange County arrested him and charged him with assault. We hope he at least got kicked off of property and banned.

Around here, however, we don’t look backwards for very long.

I can just imagine how he treated her before they got married. One of these days, he's either going to get really angry with her for some stupid little thing, and kill or seriously injure her, or OTOH, he's going to wake up one morning to find a huge kitchen knife in his chest, and he's gonna know who did it. Only thing is, she will probably have decamped to a country that doesn't have an extradition treaty with the U.S., and live there the rest of her life. I hope she realizes how much danger she's in, and leaves him before something bad happens. If some guy did that to me, well....he'd be keeping company with Jimmy Hoffa, so to speak....

Re: RAGE-O del Zocalo
Long time lurker here, but I was compelled to post a reply on this one. Because this happened to me in the same restaurant about 15 years ago (although I think it had a different name then). Absolute jerk I was with completely verbally attacked me, I was frightened out of my mind, everyone was staring, and no one did anything. I can't remember if there were any CM's around.
I couldn't eat at that restaurant for years afterward. My Dh (not the abuser, although he was the guy I dated right after the abuser and helped me deal with it) actually didn't know the restaurant existed because I tended to avoid it until about last April, actually. It affected me that much.
But GuestJockey, you are my hero for helping this woman. It's such an awful thing to be in that position, and hopefully the fact that someone stepped in and did something about it will be enough to make that woman realize that she does have a problem and she does need to get help. Because so often (and unfortunately, in my case, too), the victim doesn't realize there's a problem until someone else points it out. Sometimes the abuse just slowly sneaks up on you and before you know it, you're in over your head. Particularly if it's verbal and not physical. I hope that woman can get some help.

Good Job, Guest Jockey. A CM's work never takes a day off!! You did the right thing. I am shocked what goes around at DL. Any idea on what happened afterwards?
