I was a SG today

Post by Monorail_Red » Tue Aug 04, 2009 2:07 pm

Well, I tried to uphold my good record of not ever being a SG.

Today, I kinda made a Stupid Guest Trick of my own that I thought I would share with you all...as long as you promise not to laugh at me (too much)!

Well, yesterday I went to log in here at SGT. I got the 404 error, thought nothing of it, and tried a few hours later. So after that, still couldn't get to the home page. So I tried again this morning, and this afternoon I decided to try something else.

I tried a proxy, and it worked. While I was on, I contacted CujoSR.

Cujo told me to make sure www was in the url. :oweye:

Well, that was it folks. After five years of working for a technology support firm, I couldn't figure that one out on my own! Thanks Cujo! :hi5:

I guess even something like this happens to even the best of us! :o:

All monorail units be advised, Monorail_Red is 10-8 on the SGT Forums. Red clear! :D:

:sgt:

We won't laugh, Red. But just so you know, that little tray that slides out of your computer is not a cup holder! :D:

I knew that, but it just bugs me because every 10min or so I have to grab the beverage before it spills.

Now why on earth would they design the cup holders to automatically retract after said time?

But it gets even better with something hot!

Interesting, and I'm not 100% sure I can classify this as a SUT (Stupid User Trick), ID10T or loose nut behind a keyboard. I can see both sides of an argument on this though...

ktulu, I've got another one for you...picnic = Problem In Chair, Not In Computer

Hey Monorail Red, at least you were kind enough to admit your mistake so we could all giggle at it.

Actually, I'd classify that more as a PBKAC than anything... :D:

Actually, that's not such a bad problem...you should hear the number of people that yell at me for changing their user name (which was never changed - they just tell me "no, that's not my user name, this is...". Whatever - I'm the domain admin, and I'd know if a username was changed! Issues like yours I ALWAYS tell the user to keep pitching softballs at me - makes me feel useful (and they are fun, too, since they realize as soon as you give them the answer that they knew it all along)!
