Disney comes to Dallas!

Post by BRWombat » Fri Jul 31, 2009 9:32 am

Awesome news! You all know that the Vocal Majority recently traveled to Anaheim -- well, now we're bringing some of Disney here for our Fall shows!!

Here's a clip from a "VMail" I just received. Florida CMs, recognize any of these guys?
Our guest quartet will be the Humdingers. Who, you may ask, are the Humdingers? They are better known as the Dapper Dans from Walt Disney World in Orlando, but due to contractual requirements, they are not allowed to appear outside of Disney World using that name. Thus they use Humdingers. There are actually about a dozen members of the D’ Dan’s because they have to work 7 days a week so they have multiple parts. Each guy can sing more than 1 part. They are VERY entertaining, and I am sure our audiences will LOVE them!

Tony DeRosa (Max Q) is actually responsible for overseeing all of the singing groups at Disney World and has hand-picked the four guys who will be here.

They include:

Kevin Miles, bass (From 2001 gold medal quartet Platinum),

Roger Ross, bari (tenor of 1992 gold medal quartet Keepsake),

Ken Thiboult, lead with 20+ years as a professional singer at Disney World and in other groups along the East coast, and

Aaron Stratton, tenor veteran Dapper Dan and also sang the role of Gaston in Beauty & the Beast, live on stage.
The VM Fall shows will be on Friday September 11 (8 pm) and Saturday September 12 (2 pm & 8 pm) at the Eisemann Center in Richardson, Texas. The VM portion of the show is themed "Hit Parade," with many favorite selections from the chorus's 36-year history (which means that I, as a relatively new member, have some music learning to do!).

If you're within traveling distance of Dallas, get your tickets here -- and use the code "86" when you log into the Eisemann Center ticket page for a 10% discount. This is going to be a good one!

Very cool. I love the Dapper Dans and always enjoy hearing them perform.

Around here, however, we don’t look backwards for very long.

We keep moving forward, opening up new doors and doing new things, because we're curious…
and curiosity keeps leading us down new paths.

Kevin Miles was also the leader of the Voices of Liberty at Epcot for many years. In addition, his voice is heard in many recorded announcements throughout the parks.

Wallet, check. iPhone, check. Keys, check.

It would be closer than where I was last night, and heading to again today

Yeah, you count as "local." It's not much farther for you than where you go to work each day!

Ah, love them! Minnie would on occasion drop off a plate of cookies at their break room on Christmas party nights. So, shhhh ... don't let them in that Minnie Mouse was the mysterious "Cookie Fairy".

I got to be the Cookie Fairy once. My boss was having a horrible day so, at lunch, I went to Mrs. Fields and picked up a dozen Debra's Specials.

I got back to work, leaned over the cubicle wall, told her I'd observed she was having a crappy day and I'd gone out and picked up some heavy drugs for her. She got a shocked look until I raised the bag. Then she was all smiles.

We hid out behind the building until they were all gone.
