If I remember correctly, they were going to do that at Guantanamo, but decided waterboarding was more humane.

These days, it's not about the news, it's about the ratings. Any code of ethics a station might have is beaten down by the need to provide the most sordid graphic details so that they can get those viewers. There are some times the media needs to sit the f*** down and shut the f*** up. What VALID public interest is served by haranguing a grieving family and displaying the bloody details of a murder or accident? None. I can see writing about the accident. That's news. Maybe Austin's name was news. But the rest of his family and his personal life? That's inviolate. If the family calls a press conference, okay, then they want to talk, but otherwise, let it go.

As for the asshat "guests" who are pushing for information, sadly, they're a product of a society that glorifies the violence and puts this kind of thing on "reality" shows to where it becomes just another thing. They don't see the seriousness and solemnity of the occassion because they let the TV educate them about morals instead of using their common sense, which sadly, is not so common.

On another board I hang out on, we call such beatdowns of the ignorant "LART"ing, which stands for Luser Attitude Readjustment Tool. A LART can be verbal, or physical.

May I ask who he almost got decked by? There are certain drivers I would love to see beat up a SG.

I'm picturing the line of people from the movie Airplane dealing with the distraught lady passenger, each waiting their turn to beat on her.

Now that is a 10:00 news item I'd love to see.
(newscaster) "An out of town visitor got the living shit kicked out of him by other guests at Disney World for being an insensitive asshole."
"Doctors report that the man should make an (almost) full recovery in 6-8 months".
"He may be never able to walk again though".

Remember, we are talking about orlando news here. You forgot the part where they try and interview his family and friends and then launch an investigation into why Mickey did not personally stop the beating.

After years of reading from the sidelines I have joined your forum to let you know how deeply those of us that are fans of the Mouse care for you all and grieve for the loss of your friend. When I heard about the accident I was at work and felt like a member of my family had passed. I'm so sorry and think that the SG's that are making light of the situation, in any manner whatsoever, should be impaled on the spire atop Space Mountain - as a warning to others that they should STFU and have some respect.
My hot young boyfriend and I will be in your neighborhood in early December - I will pay my respects in person at that time, until then - prayers and hugs to all of you and yours that have been effected by this tragedy - Nell
