Hi, new here, and a few q's ...

Hi, I'm MLAngels, a mom of 3, and I'm thinking about becoming a CM. I noticed that WDW is currently hiring seasonal for food and wine, and I was thinking of applying.

This would be huge for me, because I haven't worked outside the home since 2002. It's not about the money ... My youngest is starting school this year. And, while I intend to volunteer at the school, I doubt they'll let me pitch a tent in the schoolyard. ;)

So, I need something to do other than hang around Windermere all day. If was was accepted as a seasonal F&W CM, do you think that would be full time work during the festival? Also, post-festival, would I be terminated, or would I be allowed to remain, picking up shifts here and there?

I love hanging out at Disney, and I really love talking to people. I spent a lot of time doing customer service style work when I used to have a job, and I generally loved it. I had my fair share of SGT stories back then, too ... Now I accumulate them while hanging out at the parks.

Anyhow, I've had a blast reading all the stories on here, and sympathizing with the plight of the CMs who are forced to endure the stupidity ... I look forward to sharing a few stories with you in due time!

Good luck in your quest to become a CM. I can imagine if you do end up working Food and Wine that you'll have quite a few stories to tell.

I would urge you to apply. This is an easy way to get into the Company, as hundreds are needed, and it's not hard work, though mostly outdoors in all weather. I don't know work schedules, but suspect they'd be happy to have you work full time. However, they may require at least one weekend day of availability -- you'll want to ask.

Post-schedule, ask to be converted to seasonal status (if that's not how you're hired). That will let you mark up as available during school, and mark off when the kids are home. Seasonal cast don't get seniority or raises (or benefits in weeks they aren't available for work), but they do get remembered by management, and can at times be offered permanent positions (where you do).

Let us know if you make it, some of us will come by and annoy you at work so you'll feel more like one of us! :D:

I should probably mention that when I put my name on the Interest List in my area to work Food & Wine (does anyone know when you find that out?), it was saying that Time Off requests would not be honoured during the duration of the Festival.
