One thing I try to do to fellow CM's is to use their name. Saying, "Thank you for helping me with my bag, Jamie!" or "Thanks for checking me in, Sue!" or "Love ya, Shelia!" makes things more personal - you saw that you see them as people, not just droids who are there to serve you.

I saw my elderly FIL at Lake Tahoe last week (He drove from Oregon with a trailer!:eek :) We spoke of the Flag Retreat and Ernie, and he commented on how special it was for him to be able to participate in the Flag Retreat and to meet Ernie.

Kinda thought you'd post back Disney Mom. :) I'll print your post & give to Ernie. He does remember your FIL well. He'll love your FIL's travel story! Was a highlight for Ernie to speak with him. Nothing makes me happier than to hear this- THANK YOU! :)

Was a long trip to Tahoe for FIL and MIL-he has lots of back pain, etc, and had to pull off many times to let faster vehicles by-but nothing he loves more than to go camping with Family. Will bring him back to DLR if at all possible to say Hi to Ernie.

Please pm or Em me when you do bring FIL to DLR. Ernie will introduce your FIL at Flag Retreat by name before Colors are Retired. As a funny side note DM, Ernie is working with DCA as they want Flag Retreat after rehab. At a meeting Ernie was asked to attend (Ernie will train all officers at DCA Flag Retreat) planners asked Ernie "How do you want the new flag pole?" Ernie shot back; "Standing straight up." :D:
