Walter Cronkite will not be down for breakfast
Legendary TV Journalist died today at the age of 93. He reported John Kennedy's death in 1963, and the moon landing in 1969.

"Yes, sir, but the water is fake."

My mom just called me about his passing. Good-Bye to the 'other' Uncle Walt. :(

And that's the way it is....
92 is a good age to go, he leaves behind such a legacy.

I will be your guide for this magical journey into the movies. It's the perfect job for me, because I love movies! Is everybody ready? Great, because it's showtime. Ready when you are, CB!

He was a good sailor too.

I was here earlier, and found out about Cronkite's passing a little while ago while reading something else. In my not-so-humble opinion, Mr. Cronkite was the last of the real, old-fashioned newscasters. He shunned sensationalism in any form; you could say he went with the Joe Friday method--just the facts, ma'am. We need more journalists, and newscasters, like him, because what we have now would make Edward R. Murrow set his coffin on fire from spinning in his grave. I've always respected his calm, reasoned demeanor in presenting the news.

I don't wish her any ill will, but I could really live without Nancy Grace. :mad:felinefan wrote:I was here earlier, and found out about Cronkite's passing a little while ago while reading something else. Some times Nancy can get annoying. I just saw the story on CNN and I was surprised he did allot of work. Does anyone know what he died from? Poor family. Let Walter rest in peace. :(

Re: Walter Cronkite will not be down for breakfast
The breakfast table sure does seem to get smaller and smaller.
I grew up with my g'parents as well, so most the news I watched as a kid was with the older generation of new casters (like world news tonight). I still only prefer to watch these news cast over cable news or local news. If it's not in the national news, must not be that important.
I think the tv will never be on if "this" generation of news casters turn the few remaining good stations into what they do now.
