Re: Fourth of July Monorail Incident
Oh my gosh! We're so glad to hear BW is okay, but saddened that another driver was killed. There sure isn't any protection in that "plastic" tube, is there. Looks like they hit at a pretty good clip, although if it was at the TTC you'd think the rear train would have been slowing down at least.
I'm sure the details will be posted soon. What a tragedy. Kurtis, I hope it wasn't a friend of yours, or BW's.

Ok, I was able to check with BW, he was not on this site and I didn't know him.

Yes folks the news can some what be trusted. We had an accident. I cant go into details, but we lost a pilot lastnight,... no SGT Pilots are directly envolved.

BW-
You know us all too well. You were my first thought when I heard about it.
Glad you are okay but sorry about the loss of a co-worker. That sucks.

Re: Fourth of July Monorail Incident
Can a monorail expert explain to the rest of us *how* such a failure could happen? It was my understanding that if MAPO didn't seen enough unblocked hold point signals, it e-stopped, and an override would only permit P1.
Does this not also set off an alarm loud enough to alert even a sleeping pilot to stop?
Is it possible to override MAPO from the cab?
Sorry to go technical in the middle of tragedy, and in advance of information, but I'm consumed by frustrated curiosity.

Same things are running through my head now but out of respect for the pilot & others involved I just don't have it in me to pick it apart right now.Zazu wrote:Can a monorail expert explain to the rest of us *how* such a failure could happen?
