Disney Tech Question

prolly only a Disney tech can answer this.
someone told me Soarin' is just s custom ShowScan system made for Disney. sort of like the ones we have here in vegas, like at the Excalibur Hotel. dont see it on thier web site thou. http://www.showscan.com/

Do the Soaring attractions not use IMAX format projection systems? There is no indication of using IMAX projections on the Showscan website from what I can find. I understood that the Soaring 'seats" were custom developed for that attraction, by the folks at WDI. There is a youtube video showing the prototype, built out of mechano, with the Imagineer responsible explaining how it came about. It is possible that they are using a showscan-like motion control system for the operation of the attraction. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lJS79OISDYg
