Can't help but think those kids need an advocate/lawyer on their side who will do the correct thing for them parentally and financially.

Don't be fooled by appearances. In Hawaii, some of the most powerful people look like bums and stuntmen.

Please, please tell me you knew that beforehand...like a LONG time ago. That has been going around for years and years. The children certainly look nothing like MJ did as a child-or adult. However, one of my Doctors I work with who is mixed race (Black and White)and his Spouse (Asian and ?)have twin babies- The girl has pale skin and reddish hair, the boy takes after Dad. You can tell they are twins though due to same cute smiles! :)Syndrome wrote:Please, please tell me you knew that beforehand...like a LONG time ago. That has been going around for years and years. Re: Michael Jackson will not be down for breakfast
Why would they distance themselves from the only father they knew & loved? Children love unconditionly - most of the time. Yes, they deserve better. Much better. They deserve a father who is alive! When the children were told their father died they were extremely emotional & sad. They asked to see him & were granted time alone with him. A nurse from UCLA is a family friend, thus we have a little insight as to how the children reacted. As for wearing masks - strange to many of us, yet I see surgical masks of all types in the park daily. I so wish we could/would let MJ R I P.felinefan wrote:they probably will want to distance themselves from their famous father. Otherwise, life could be difficult for them. They deserve better. I'm sure when they heard their father was dead, they probably asked, "Can we take these dumb masks off now?"

No matter your feelings on MJ, these facts remain.
A father and mother lost a son.
Siblings lost a brother.
3 children lost their Daddy, biological or not, he was their Daddy.
Being a son, a brother and a father, that is position I hope I don't have to put my family in for a long time.

I just heard on the radio that his will names his mom as the kids' guardian, and if she cannot take them, Diana Ross is next in line. The nanny would seem to make a lot more sense than Diana Ross. I hope everything turns out okay for them...I sometimes still wonder about Phil Hartman's kids.

The masks were to keep the kids from being identified on the street. Can you imagine what could've happened had they gone to school, and everyone pointed and yelled, "Hey, look, it's Michael Jackson's kids!" ? Bullies would be pouring out of the woodwork, making fun of their dad being "Whacko Jacko", etc.. Of course, for all I know, he had them privately tutored. No, seriously, Michael was a genius; I never said he wasn't. But it's what I call a side effect of being human that some of us make jokes about the recently deceased who just happened to be famous.
Look at Thomas Edison--he was pretty eccentric, trying to keep motion pictures to himself. How do you think California got to be the movie capital of the world? If anyone made movies, Edison would sue for copyright infringement. Moviemakers had to flee to Mexico, where the lawsuits had no effect. Then they discovered California had better climate than New York City for moviemaking, and was far enough from Edison and his lawsuits. Plus, they didn't have to go through customs, etc. to get into Mexico. Edison was a genius, but he was a nutjob too.
I remember after Natalie Wood drowned off Catalina, mom came home from work and said there was a joke going around at work about her: Know what kind of wood doesn't float? Natalie Wood.
Anybody who's different from the norm is going to suffer slings and arrows of critcism. I am sure people like Leonardo da Vinci was misunderstood in his time, as was Louis Pasteur in his time, etc..

Oh, I remember one that my kids came home from school with about Natalie Wood...
Why didn't Natalie Wood take showers?
She preferred to wash up on shore!
I does seem strange that the first thing that we humans come up with after someone dies tragically is a joke about it. Maybe it's our way of coping with the situation and keep ourselves away from it all. Who knows! It is very common though.
