I will be your guide for this magical journey into the movies. It's the perfect job for me, because I love movies! Is everybody ready? Great, because it's showtime. Ready when you are, CB!

Re: Stupid Cat Abuser Tricks
We had a similar situation here a few years ago. Some guy moved here from the Northwest,(Wa or Or). Bought himself a place in BF nowhere, and his dog or cat (I don't remember) got munched by coyotes, and the dumb sumbitch tried to sue Pima county for not telling "HIM" about said yoties.DisneyMom wrote:GOOD JOB SYNDROME!
Very Brave of you, Good Kitty Karma will be coming your way! :)
I tried to save a cat this week but probably not successful......
Cat in condo driveway late the other night. I think he's coyote food (I live on a hill) so I park my car and tried to call to him. He sort of came closer but wouldn't, and so I tried to approach him by another step and he ran off. I stand up, turn around, and THERE'S A COYOTE RIGHT BEHIND ME
I stomp my feet, shout, and scare him off, and look for cat and/or owner, knocked on a couple doors. Coyote comes back, I shout at him again, and he runs off.
I never did see kitty again..... :(
Good job though syndrome.

Good for you, Syndrome, for saving that kitten's life. Show us another picture in a couple weeks and I'll bet he'll be looking fit and sassy, especially if he stays with you and gets some good vittles and care.
Here's hoping he doesn't have any viral diseases and recovers quickly from his abandonment. You were indeed in the right place at the right time.

Here's a photo from today; we went to Petsmart to get some stuff to spice up his temporary home in the shower. I don't think he has mange as the rest of his hair seems okay. His eyes did get scuffed up from road rash though so that might be part of it. The vet we stopped at in Tampa thought he was a boy, but his butt is scuffed and swelled badly so I'm wondering. His coat is tortiseshell and they're usually girls.

Re: Stupid Cat Abuser Tricks
About a half hour ago my wife went out front to bring in some gardening tools and discovered a baby bird that was just about to be eaten by a couple of mina birds. Apparently it fell out of a nest.
She scooped up the baby and my daughter is now on feeding duty with a syringe full of gruel.
The dogs are very interested.

Whatever you do, don't EVER send a kitten or puppy, dog or cat, to the shelter/humane society. Unless they're really super lucky, they will be euthanized in a few days, if not the next day.
A cyberfriend of mine on another board got told by his landlord that one of his neighbors complained about his having a dog and a cat, and apparently the complaintant wasn't allowed to have one. My friend had rescued both the dog and the kitten, and had been trying for a couple years to find a home for her--she was deaf--but was unsuccessful. He did get a friend to take the kitten, which he rescued after witnessing some idiot throwing her out of their car window into a ravine. But the dog ended up going with animal control, and he found out the next day they put the dog down. Ironically, I checked out his city's website, and that of his local humane society, and they had pictures up of dogs and cats that were being sponsored--even special needs ones. I wonder what their criteria was for having an animal get put online for sponsoring?

Re: Stupid Cat Abuser Tricks
A lot of people are using Craigslist to advertise cats and dogs that need a home. They usually charge a small "rehoming" fee so someone doesn't take the free animals and use them as bait for fighting dogs. Sick-sick-sick!!

But what's the fun of having cats if you can't torture them?
(I am currently owned by two cats from the Siamese Rescue Society.)

Re: Stupid Cat Abuser Tricks
I don't torture my mom in law's cats... They torture me. Tabitha, a petite grey and black and cream kitty loves to hunt me down when I am visiting, and SIT ON MY LAP! She doesn't want to move, when I have to leave or I want to get up. I put my hands under her in order to start to get her moving, and then a paw is moved to on top of the hand that is closest to her chest. This means"You're really not interested in moving me are you? We're warm and comfy, see?"

There are some no-kill shelters, but they are few and far between. They seem to be even more rare here in FL. In IL, I had inroads with a couple since strays always seemed to find their way to me.felinefan wrote:Whatever you do, don't EVER send a kitten or puppy, dog or cat, to the shelter/humane society. Way too many are practically instant kill though. I remember adopting one of my former cats from one where I asked if I could come back the next day. They said, "No, he's being put down tonight." Their kill rate was 98 percent...ugh! That's why I'm a huge supporter of spay/neuter (for both animals and SGs).
