At the old Disney Hyperion Studio, the screening room where animators would show animated scenes to Walt for his approval was small, with no ventilation or AC. Not only was it hot, but the animators were nervously awaiting Walt's reaction to their work. Thus, the room became known as the Sweatbox. Even after the Studio moved to Burbank and elegant screening rooms were offered to the staff, the moniker remained.
Now SGT has a sweatbox of our own. This is the place to find and post all entertaining topics such as video links, jokes, games, and the like. A general rule of thumb is that if the thread is meant to be informative (interesting news stories for example), or a topic for discussion (like setting up a park meet) then it should go in the Break Room, but if the intent is to entertain the masses then it's home is The Sweatbox. I'm sure there will be grey areas at times, so if you have doubt as to where a new thread should go, just use your best judgement and the SGT Staff will be glad to move it later if you guessed wrong.

Seaquest 2032
I'm watching the first episode of Seaquest's 3rd season (Brave New World) and some of the interiors are very familiar looking. The interior of an undersea colony is actually The Living Seas at Epcot and a council chamber is the large sundial inside of Team Disney Orlando. I watched the scenes a few times to confirm I wasn't seeing things and I wasn't. Checked filming locations for the season (nothing episode specific that I could find) and it lists Epcot and Team Disney.
It's neat to see these places on sci-fi TV show. I'm a little surprised Disney agreed to allow filming in these locations, especially since the show was produced (and mostly shot at) Universal Studios.
I'm thinking the Epcot scenes were probably filmed at night to avoid disrupting guests but it is evident the Team Disney scenes were filmed during the daytime. Must have been shot on a weekend or holiday to avoid disrupting the cast who work there.
If you are a member of Netflix you can watch the episode instantly on their website (which is what I'm doing).
Edit: And I just saw a scene that looked to be filmed in the room at The Living Seas that's inside the large tank and you can see the creatures swim all around.

That would also be the season that the production moved to Miami pissing off Roy and causing him to leave the cast.

Re: Seaquest 2032
Yep. Also, there was a scene with those elevator things (hydrolators) that used to be how you got into The Living Seas.
They also used it in that Hulk Hogan show, I think it was called "Thunder in Paradise". They used the hydrolator chamber, the airlock and other locations around Living Seas, if I remember right.
You have to admit, before the whole Nemo addition, it made a great TV set.

My opinions are mine and mine only. If my opinions are the opinion of others who happen to share whatever my crazy views may be, then fine, but it's not because I represent them in having my opinions. Got it?
Re: Seaquest 2032
Thunder in Paradise also used Catastrophe Canyon, and the "production" water tank at the Studios, which has now been filled in, and, I'm pretty sure, is part of the admin bungalow area.

Nope, they never moved. They stayed in O-Town the whole time Cujo. I know, I was an extra for that season of SeaQuest. Disney was used because of their availibility and yes, that was team Disney. I was on the edge of the horseshoe of desk, blue suit, arguing with a bald guy.CujoSR wrote:That would also be the season that the production moved to Miami pissing off Roy and causing him to leave the cast.

Shot on a weekday. We worked around the CM's. I still can't look at the building the same way...it was so much fun working with those guys. Shorty? Does this mean they are FINALLY out commercially? I have them boot...Shorty82 wrote:I'm watching the first episode of Seaquest's 3rd season (Brave New World) and some of the interiors are very familiar looking. You missed a few locations. Now I am only through episode 3 of that season. But here goes. Team Disney Sundial (check), Team Disney hallways for invasion, Team Disney (Eisner boardroom with long expensive mahogany table), Living Seas for underwater (check), Mannequins for club scenes!Shorty82 wrote:I'm watching the first episode of Seaquest's 3rd season (Brave New World) and some of the interiors are very familiar looking. They did invade the to be determined but never built mediterrean (sp) hotel beach....have not seen episode, just saw filming. LOL
These were all filmed during regular operational hours!

Oh and why? Eisner was buttering up Spielberg. Story is that we did it for almost nothing money wise.

Re: Seaquest 2032
Didn't recognize the hallways for the invasion as being Team Disney. Did recognize the one right outside the sundial right after the meeting was adjourned. I've never seen the boardroom so naturally didn't recognize it. I only went into Mannequins MAYBE once and then only for a few minutes so naturally didn't recognize it.mapo wrote:You missed a few locations. Now I am only through episode 3 of that season.
