Oh my! You don't happen to be anywhere near San Jose do you? I could buy you lunch while I'm still employed. 
You've mentioned loss prevention, if you have a guard card, you may want to look into some of the security companies that staff trade shows. They always seem to need folks willing to work the graveyard shifts which usually means sitting in a room babysitting gear while reading a book. Might not be a lot of pay, but it's a similar field and it's something.
