Have Faith In Your Sports Teams!!!
So, tomorrow night, they have a WWE event at the Staples Center in LA. For those WWE fans, they know that this was due to being kicked out of the Pepsi Center in Denver. Apparently, the owner of the venue double booked it for the same night, Monday, May 25. Also, playing on the same night is the Game 4 of the Western Conference Finals between the LA Lakers and the Denver Nuggets. The WWE event was booked since last August. As a result, the WWE event was moved to LA for that same night. What does this tell you about the owner that he didn't have faith in his team to make it to the playoffs??
Any comments, concerns, suggestions, worries, wishes, questions???

Don't be fooled by appearances. In Hawaii, some of the most powerful people look like bums and stuntmen.

I'm not too surprised, either legally or practically. Usually those contracts will have notice built in about the venue's priorities -- if the resident NBA team is still in the playoffs, their games get precedence. The venue owner needs to overbook just like airlines oversell planes, because on balance it works out, and it's better to have too many events than risk lost revenue from an empty arena. It sucks for the event that gets bumped, but it happens.DLRFantasmic!Dan wrote:So, tomorrow night, they have a WWE event at the Staples Center in LA. Practically, how long has it been since Denver went to the conference finals -- 25 years? And even this year they weren't doing overly great until that Iverson/Billups trade. Right now, they're a pretty exciting team to watch, even if they did knock out my Mavs.

Here's the catch, everything I have read on the issue says there was no "out" written into the contract. So the WWE had every right to protest them being moved out of the venue. On the flip side, I have way too much time on my hands if I am reading everything about a fight between wrestlers and thugs. I, too, am a Mavs fan.BRWombat wrote:I'm not too surprised, either legally or practically. Maybe we could designate a neutral arena and let them fight it out. That I'd pay to see.
