A Question for the CM's

Post by avenueqpat » Fri May 22, 2009 10:02 pm

Hey Guys. I haven't posted in a while, but I am around lurking - still shocked at the stupidity of some people.

I have a trip planned at the End of August, and for the first time I am going to bring a backpack into the park with me (probably just a drawstring bag or something fairly small)

For the rides where you shouldn't have things on your laps, is there always a place to store it on the ride or would you need to leave it with a CM, or put it in a locker.

Just wondering because I am bringing a handycam video camera this time (so pretty small) and a few other things.

Thanks in advance for any help!

PS - Solo trip, or I would just hand it off to someone in the party who wasn't riding!

We almost always bring a small backpack into the parks with us and have never had a problem stowing it on the rides or attractions. Some attractions have a place under the seat, like Soarin', where you can stash a bag, on some rides you place your bag on the floor between your feet or on the seat next to you, and on Kali River Rapids Ride in Animal Kingdom, in the center of the raft there is a storage bay with a vinyl cover where you can stow stuff. There are storage lockers for rent at the front of each park where you can store things you might need during your visit, like a jacket during the cooler months, but we've never used them. You cannot leave anything with a CM to hold for you.
Your camera should be okay tucked inside your backpack, especially if you have something to cushion it a little, or a camera case to slip it into.

I don't recall there being anywhere at disney that you can't bring stuff on a ride, but at Universal, there definitely are. Some of them have free lockers, but they won't let you bring as much as a camera on even things like men in black.

Cool - Thanks for that info.

Like I only said, I have only ever brough a Digital Camera and my cell in the past, both small enough to fit in the pockets, so I never needed to worry about it.

This time, my friend got called into work so I am having to do this as a solo, and he asked me to make a mini video, so theres the bigger camera!

The only ride that you'll want to take extra precation is rock n roller coaster. I simple put the straps through my legs and my bag is still there at the end.

I have a good solution for Universal's "You can't bring anything on" paranoia. I have a fanny pack that holds enough supplies to all Mr. Syndrome and I to survive for at least a week in the wilderness. For some reason, while actually carrying a tiny purse is forbidden, you can bring enormous fanny packs as long as you can stap them on your body. You just have to be able to push it to the side so it's out of the way of the ride retraint. I don't know if that's going to be the same on Rip Ride Rockit when they open it, but it's true of everything at Uni/IOA now.

At SeaWorld, they won't even let me wear a frickin' water bottle strap.
