Coming Soon..

Post by kurtisnelson » Mon May 18, 2009 6:31 pm

To a theme park near you, hopefully,
ME!
I dropped into casting today to see why my application has been sitting for a month and they said they would have a recruiter send me an email. I got an offer to setup an interview so I take it that is a good sign.
The next available interview is in two weeks though....
I put down transportation - monorails as my first choice so let's see what happens.

Good luck, my friend.

Go into Casting knowing your hold points and your four driving priorities, and they'll know you want it badly.

I'll be happy to coach you to make sure you are the best candidate they have. I will also see if there's a good way to put in a good word for you.

PMing you with info.

My opinions are mine and mine only. If my opinions are the opinion of others who happen to share whatever my crazy views may be, then fine, but it's not because I represent them in having my opinions. Got it?

I will be your guide for this magical journey into the movies. It's the perfect job for me, because I love movies! Is everybody ready? Great, because it's showtime. Ready when you are, CB!

Well I snagged a 4:30 PM interview today that someone else cancelled...
Today's stupid casting trick: Let's do an interview for a non-existent job!
Buddy, the interviewer is going along etc, seasonal or part, etc, and ends with Well, we don't have any monorail positions open right now, would you like to do custodial?
He put me on some list where they will call if something opens up.
I did find out that they are hiring F&B and lifeguards right now, so I need to decide what to do. This would only be a summerish job for me at this point.
And, if I go with lifeguarding or F&B, do I have to reinterview or do I just call and bug them or what? All they gave me was a blue slip saying I am listed.
What really bothers me is I was going to have to wait 2 weeks to be told they weren't hiring.

HR departments are pretty much the same in every company.

False statement. The HR Department at my current employer is perfect. Every person they have hired is profitable, they have never fired anyone, they respond all phone calls and emails within minutes, and I am on a first name basis with everyone in the department.

Ok, after talking to BW and him telling me that he thinks my recruiter was crazy, I called casting again. The person on the phone said the notes on my file made no sense and is having a manager call me today. If they can't get me in rails or attractions, I will just go with lifeguard and use transfer loopholes ASAP.

Most of the Disney areas have you stay with them for 6 months to a year. Also, you don't want points or any verbals. These will make it harder to advance. I should know, I have 21 years under my belt.

Casting is being very undisney.
I called this morning to check on everything and see what is setup. They couldn't figure out what my file meant so a manager was going to call back in an hour.
They didn't.
I then called 2 hours later, they said they would call by the end of the day, they have to talk to the recruiter.
They didn't.
So I filled out a USO application today. They need people to open Rip Ride Rock it and they also need people for their boats.
