Bea Arthur will not be down for breakfast

Only two Golden Girls survive. Bea was not the oldest, Betty White is.

I'll always remember the Line in the movie airheads where Steve Bushemi demands pictures of Bea Arthur nude in order to release the hostages, and they actually got them!

This is quite unfortunate, but at least she lived a long life that certainly was not wasted.

I remember watching that show. I still see the re-runs on tv. It is a shame that she passed away. She will be missed.

It's very sad indeed. I loved Golden Girls growing up, and suffice it to say, it, in a small and indirect way, helped me come to terms with some parts of my life....

Not to mention her connections with The Walt Disney Company, particularly in the pre-CapCities purchase days when we were allied with NBC. Heck, she (along with Betty White) even hosted WDW's 15th Anniversary TV special:

I'll always think of Bea Arthur as Maude.

This my give you all more insight into my personality than you were really wanting, but I associate Golden Girls with my honeymoon -- it was on TV when we went up to our room after dinner on our wedding night. And then a couple of days later, since we went to WDW for our honeymoon, we saw their house on Residential Street at the Studios.

Mom loved The Golden Girls. I remember this one episode when Sophia had a health crisis and died for a few moments, and went to Heaven and saw her deceased husband. Her husband told her how he used to take Dorthy to the kitchen after Sophia had gone to bed, and feedher spumoni ice cream; this led to his secret nickname, "Little Spumoni Face' for her. He asks Sophia, 'So how's my Little Spumoni Face doing?" Sophia doesn't know what he's talking about, so he tells her. Later, after Sophia recovers and is back home, she tries to convince Dorthy that she actually died. Dorothy refuses to believe her. Finally, Sophia says, "Okay, have it your way--Little Spumoni Face." Dorthy is startled to her her father's nickname for her used by her mother.

Yeah, it was interesting--Estelle Getty played the oldest character, but she was actually the youngest.

I think Bea Arthur once was in a Star Wars Christmas special in the late 70s--it revolved around Chewbacca's family and their Life Day celebration. Bea played a bartender who had a hard time getting the alien customers out of the bar at closing time, so finally she came up with the song "Good Night But Not Good-bye", which eventually got them out so she could close. Yeah, I was shocked to see her obit in last Sunday's paper.

"Welcome home, PussyCat!"
"Yeah, welcome home, Little Spumoni Face!"

Bea Arthur and Harvey Corman in a scene together in the Star Wars Christmas Special.
Bea sings at the end of the scene. And the tune has part of the Cantina Song, but it gets cut off.
