Laugh Of The Day

At the old Disney Hyperion Studio, the screening room where animators would show animated scenes to Walt for his approval was small, with no ventilation or AC. Not only was it hot, but the animators were nervously awaiting Walt's reaction to their work. Thus, the room became known as the Sweatbox. Even after the Studio moved to Burbank and elegant screening rooms were offered to the staff, the moniker remained.
Now SGT has a sweatbox of our own. This is the place to find and post all entertaining topics such as video links, jokes, games, and the like. A general rule of thumb is that if the thread is meant to be informative (interesting news stories for example), or a topic for discussion (like setting up a park meet) then it should go in the Break Room, but if the intent is to entertain the masses then it's home is The Sweatbox. I'm sure there will be grey areas at times, so if you have doubt as to where a new thread should go, just use your best judgement and the SGT Staff will be glad to move it later if you guessed wrong.

A friend of mine showed me something similar a few months back. A group staged a musical in a mall food court. The performers were disguised as workers and visitors so you didn't know who was going to join the song and dance next.

That was done by Improv Everywhere, based in NYC. If they weren't the first to do this sort of thing, they're close.techie-13 wrote:A friend of mine showed me something similar a few months back. They have everything documented on their website, and a lot of it is hilarious -- a fake rooftop concert by "U2"; surprising the players of a Little League game by providing sportscasters, a jumbotron, and a blimp!; greeting unsuspecting travelers at the airport with welcome home signs, flowers, and balloons; and the time they had about 300 people freeze in place for five minutes... in Grand Central Station. Great fun, and no one gets hurt.
They did ruffle a few feathers with their last stunt, though -- a fake mission pulled as an April Fool's joke on their readers: "Best Funeral Ever." (The comments from everyone getting upset about it make for some very enjoyable reading!)

Looking at the faces and smiles of the onlookers, I would have to say that the world would be a better place with a little more "magic" like this. Harmless, Happy, and Fun.
