Been thinking some more about the WDWCP...

Post by Monorail_Red » Wed Apr 08, 2009 3:45 pm

So as many have heard me say in the past I'm sooting to be a CP in Spring 2010. My ultimate top choice would be able to land the role of a Monorail Pilot! :D:

But I was thinking about other roles...is there anything that would have to do with operations other than Attractions & Transportation? One thing that comes to mind is the Electrical Water Pageant...and watercraft (non-transportation...such as the "lake patrol" which I'm assuming would fall under Life Gurad?).

The reason that I ask is that I'm really into anything operations and I would love to land a role in which I could be used to that capacity.

Monorails is a uniqe area. There, as a CP you can do some fairly advanced things, like drive the train. If you go into Lifeguard, they will not train you on ARP (Lake Patrol) and with Watercraft, I doubt you'd get into Electric Water Pagent. I think it's mostly people who have been here forever doing that.

Most attraction operations are as simplified on the Cast Member end as they can possibly make them. We make sure the doors are closed, make sure the guests are belted in and push the button. Sounds simple, doesn't it? Problem is, the guests that you have to check to make sure they're safe is that... guests. Could be worse, they could be day-off Cast Members who don't think they have to follow directions because they work here. By comparison, the guests are easy.

But in all seriousness, I hope you get something like Watercraft or Monorails. If you get into another area, keep in mind that while you will come to love your attraction(s), the true joy of what you do is not found in them, but in the guests (yes, those people I said a moment ago can be very difficult to work with) and your interaction with them. Even in Monorails, were this after 9/11 when no guests were allowed in the cab, I'd be bored out of my mind while driving.

My opinions are mine and mine only. If my opinions are the opinion of others who happen to share whatever my crazy views may be, then fine, but it's not because I represent them in having my opinions. Got it?

That's what I was beginning to think...

Attractions I wouldn't mind...even though it's not Monorails it would be more up my alley then quick service food where I've heard that the demand is high.

I'm going to keep my fingers crossed for Transportation, but the stars would have to align just right to get into Monorails. Plus, I just about have all my holdpoints memorized! :D:

Thanks for your help!

Judging by what I have read here, and other places, (and too many years of work experience)

A positive attitude and enthusiasm toward the job is always going to assist you greatly over someone that just wants a paycheck.

I think you will do just fine!

besides, just give your new supervisor the sooper secret SGT password!

hehehehe

You might want to also take a look at recreation. BW- you had told me earlier that the lake patrol was under recreation.

Is recreation something they just added? I've never seen it listed as a role.
