Lawsuits

Post by Lasolimu » Mon Mar 30, 2009 9:23 am

There have been a few threads talking about a few lawsuits, but I have found a link which lists lawsuits from 2004-2008 against Busch Entertainment Corp., Universal Orlando and Walt Disney World and some of them are entertaining to say the least.

Enjoy the nature of frivolous, often with fake injuries, lawsuits.

I didn't even get through one page of them, first they're mostly redundant and second they were making me angry. I got hit by an ECV, let's sue Disney cause you know Disney can control what every single person in the park does. Notice though that all that made it to court and there was a judgment, the judgment was for Disney.

Personally, I like the one where the bus was rolling (cause it was stopped and the parking brake was not placed, allegedly, so it could not have been going very fast) towards her and she put her arm out to stop it instead of oh I don't know taking a step out of the way. And why exactly was she standing in front of the bus anyway?

I also like the one at the Tiki room where at one point the woman is sitting on a railing and slips and the other part it says bench. I believe that was one that was settled in Disney's favor, but I don't remember for sure.

Some of the Magic Kingdom lawsuits (the only ones I've read so far) are funny, others just make you shake your head.

Get run over by an ECV? That's the fault of the idiot driving it, not Disney.

Fall when a bus jerks? That's your fault for not holding on, buses sometimes have to stop hard or make other sudden movements to avoid an accident.

Fall off a railing and hit your head? That's your fault for sitting on a railing in the first place. They're railings, not benches.

Make a joke about a bomb at bag check and get arrested? That's your fault for making a joke like that and not Disney's fault at all as they had nothing to do with the arrest which was handled by law enforcement.

The majority of the lawsuits are because of some injury the person caused themselves doing something stupid or was caused by another guest doing something stupid. Disney can't stop stupidity (boy, do we know that!) and isn't liable for a guest's stupidity.

A few of the lawsuits are legit but only a few.

I love the ones that say they suffered unspecified injuries or the incident happened at an unspecified location. If I am hurt somewhere I will remember where it was and be careful in that area the next time I am there. If you are injured at the fault of the company you are definitely going to remember where it happened so you can have an exact location and the problem can be fixed in the future. But then I guess they are just out for money and don't care that if it is a legitimate claim that others could have the same problem. "Make me rich, don't worry about the problem so others(read I) can trip and injure themselves in the same location and sue you for more money."

Either Hagar uses some pretty weak material or your diet consists exclusively of refried beans. Stay away from open flames.

Here's Weird Al's I'm Gonna Sue Ya, for those who haven't heard it. It's almost too close to the truth to be funny, but it is -- and it fits right into this discussion.
