WayBack Machine
I don't know why, but I just decided that I needed to look at SGT in it's infancy. It is interesting to see who has been here since the beginning and the kinds of things on the site back then. I must say that the site has evolved nicely over the years and it is interesting seeing the initial version and how simple it was. The site has come a long way since then.
If some of you other late comers are interested in seeing the old site you can use the wayback machine to see archived versions. This doesn't hold everything, but it is still an interesting look at the history of SGT.

Re: WayBack Machine
I have to agree with you there. I have said more than a few times in the past that we've come a long way and have grown strong as a community. I am still amazed at the maturity and commitment that everyone has given to the site. I've rarely had to penalize or ban anybody from the site in it's 6+ years of operation. All told I would say that we have had to ban less people in 6 years than Board X has had to ban in a month. Keep it up guys.
Oh and the site does look much better than it did way back then too. damn tangets. can't get off them. :p:

Wow, that's cool. I love the old Frontpage ones where there wasn't even anywhere to navigate from the very beginning.
I wish I could have been a part of this site back then, just to watch it grow.

My opinions are mine and mine only. If my opinions are the opinion of others who happen to share whatever my crazy views may be, then fine, but it's not because I represent them in having my opinions. Got it?

That's why SGT is the ONLY message board that I'm a part of anymore.
Board X, and all those other boards that must not be named are very nasty places.

Re: WayBack Machine
Disboards and SGT are my homes and I stick to Disneyland and disAbilities on disboards as there are a lot of weird people and stalkers on the community board. I go to a site for the site topic not for games. I have seen "post ho" wrack up over 5000 post in a matter of months on games and real subjects on a site. It was one that had to do with sweepstaking by the way. Disboards has a new troll that demands the peoplemover be reinstated, lol.
I have been wrongfully banned here a couple of times but never at disboards, they are so nice.

And some posts make my head hurt...mechurchlady wrote:I have been wrongfully banned here a couple of times but never at disboards, they are so nice.
Laurie, you have been treated more than fair during your time here. You have never been banned by this site, yet your post seems to insinuate that you have. Is that what you are trying to say? I really like that you consider SGT a home but do me a favor and keep the backhanded comments to yourself. If you have a problem PM me and we can work it out before any one gets upset over nothing.
And yes this was posted publicly on purpose. Everyone take notice.

Actually I was banned for about a week for a fight over t-shirts a long time ago.CujoSR wrote:And some posts make my head hurt...

I was banned maybe in a fight with Grumpy Pirate.
I was banned maybe later on when I got into a fight with a now banned person.
You may not have records and may call it what you may but there have been one definite week I could not get into this site because I defended my religious rights. I am pretty sure that there are two other times. Not being allowed into a site is a ban as far as I know.
I love this site and after the first time was hurt so bad.
I do not know where I was backhanded and really do not grasp that concept.
Mods here are very nice and this site does great work to keep the peace thankfully. That is why this is one of only three sites I regularly visit that are not games related. I do not even visit my site any more.

Re: WayBack Machine
That's fun, though it's kind of weird to see that SGT hasn't always existed! It just seems like it always has been around -- or it should have been!!! I thought of myself as a latecomer to the fun when I joined back in July 2004, but the site wasn't even two years old then.
Just 589 members according to the August 2004 home page, and almost 4000 now. Pretty cool!
