JACKALOPES!! Haven't seen one of those in years. Had one hanging on the wall in our house until mites (or something) got into it and started eating the bunny fur and made it look all raggedy.GRUMPY PIRATE wrote:Oh jeez!!!! :flybongo: :flybongo:![]()

Just coming in late to offer a hug to you and yours...what a good attitude you have despite the deluge. After just the storm drain backup we had in the basement last year I can't imagine trying to dry out a whole house. Have also gone through the sewage backup in a basement when I was a kid- we'd just moved into a new house...so many boxes in the basement...there went a lot of my favorite childhood toys in one swoop.
Hope all the insurance claims fly through without a hitch and all. I didn't read every post int he thread so sorry if I'm missing info I should be replyign to.
Big hugs
bru

We're hanging in there. Insurance seems to be doing right by us, and our contractor is a family business run by personal friends -- and they're ethical and do great work, too. Looks like we'll be getting all new flooring, kitchen cabinet and counter top, new cabinet in one bathroom, and all the rooms repainted, too.
We've been wanting to clean the house and get some work done -- this just kind of forced it on us all at once!

Re: Wombat under water - prayers needed!
I hadn't said much about this in a while, but we just got back into our house this week, after spending 75 days with my parents. (They are wonderful, and we all still like each other, though I'm sure they're glad to get their computer, TV remote, and privacy back!)
With one notable exception, everyone was wonderful to deal with, from the insurance adjusters (Allstate) to all of the contractors. If anyone in the Dallas area needs home repair, remodel, or restoration, I highly recommend Bry-Jo Roofing and Construction -- they are awesome to deal with, creative & helpful, and do extraordinarily good work.
The one exception was our mortgage company, who caused delay after delay when their only function was to sign off on the insurance checks before they went to the contractor. I won't name them, but you can spell the name with the letters C, h, a, s, and e.
Anyway, got a new computer desk built and our own computer hooked up and running again this morning. We had some minor -- or at least what we thought would be minor -- upgrades done to the home while we were out, plus there are always expenses that don't seem to get covered by insurance, so we are out a lot more $$$ than we thought. After this and two major unexpected surgeries in the past year for my wife and me, we are hurting a bit financially (but who isn't nowadays). We've told the kids to keep their grades up and get really good scholarships for college! But God always provides, and we're happy to be home.
Thanks for all of your thoughts and prayers!

I'm sure it feels good to be home! didn't realize you were displaced for so long.
Maybe we could give you some ideas for cheap eats for your upcoming trip to DLR.... I hear the Subway on Harbor and Katella is good, and that you can have groceries delivered to your room from a local market, maybe the locals
also have some for you? ;)

Glad to hear you're back in your digs and no longer living with Mom and Dad. Not that there's anything wrong with that... ;)

It wasn't too bad, except the whole time I was staying there I had to fight off a very strong urge to go to a Star Trek convention...Whazzup wrote:Glad to hear you're back in your digs and no longer living with Mom and Dad. Not that there's anything wrong with that... ;)
