Zazu wrote:True, but I called in an accident last week, perhaps 15 minutes later, and they said they hadn't gotten a prior report.

What made that sound so odd to me is that I pulled over when I saw the wreck, but by the time I had parked and run back, both drivers were still sitting in their cars, chatting on their cell phones, and were surrounded by three other drivers, who were also online.

Made me wonder if they had even noticed the accident! :wreck:

They were probably Twittering.

As someone who likes watching out airplane windows, I looked down in time to see two cars collide on the ice. I was close enough that I could see the license plate number on the offending car. I called the police non-emergency line, giving them the details I had.

Dispatcher: Thank you for that information. May I get your current location?

Me: Chicago Midway Airport.

Dispatcher: ... Okay. ... And where were you at the time of the accident?

Me: On approach aboard Southwest Airlines 1529*.
Wait, you used your cell phone while in flight?

Granted I used a cell phone while in flight, but I was sitting right next to the pilot who was trying to use his and we were looking to see who got the better signal...

It depends on where it was. When you call 911 what ever cell tower your phone locs onto will dial a pre-arranged 7 digit local phone number. IE lets say that you are at SR 535 at the Orange and Osc. County line... you may get the Oc. 911 center, the Orange 911 Center, State Police 911 Center, or even Polk 911. At this juncture the dispatcher would have to transfer you to the local that you are in.

I had passed a Signal 4 ( accident ) on the way home a few days ago. It was near Wal Mart on SR 535 and Osc. Pkway ( about 5 miles from WDW ) hit a couple of diffrent operators.

I am a former EMT/Fire fighter and have had times when i get pulled on hold by 911 before the operator even answers.. also have been hung up on..

I called after we were on the ground. Once I am over the yellow lines, I am legal.

My opinions are mine and mine only. If my opinions are the opinion of others who happen to share whatever my crazy views may be, then fine, but it's not because I represent them in having my opinions. Got it?

According to the DMV handbooks it is illegal to be over the yellow line.
So confused.
