Re: What is a Cast Member
Disney could drastically improve the quality of its cast members simply by increasing the pay rate. Make it a desirable place to work, and Disney could allow itself to be choosy when it comes to hiring, instead of desperate, as they are now.

I know both John, and Salvador, and I wholeheartedly agree with you. Also add Michael, Priscilla and Trefilio from Custodial to that list.Doctor McKey wrote:One that comes to mind is a guy named John in T-Land.
(snip)
Their is a MK custodial that is also a Cast Member to the truest meaning. Salvidor will go to the nearest entry point to an area when he is assigend to do small tasks and great every as they enter.

I take offense to this.kurtisnelson wrote:You stuck me in a cab with him on purpose!!!! And yes, if that is the guy you are talking about, I think he should go drive a bus where they encourage that behavior.
Speaking of... I rode a bus for the first time in a while from TTC to MGM and it was reminiscent of that time I spent accidentally locked in a dark closet. I walked back to MK it was so bad. (Ok, a bit of exaggeration, but I did walk from American Idol all the way to the Epcot monorail station.)
The reason that you see more bus drivers who are less than stellar is 1) MIMs and 2) There are 1200 bus drivers, odds are that bad apples will slip thru when you have that many. How many monorail pilots are there??

Re: What is a Cast Member
That was true up through last October, but Casting was closed in November, and now the Company just has to provide enough hours to keep folks from searching for other jobs ... which are pretty sparse right now.Amphigorey wrote:Disney could drastically improve the quality of its cast members simply by increasing the pay rate. And I'm not really sure it would help. As some have here observed, Cast Members (the good ones) are born, not trained. The Right People will find Disney, and make what adjustments they have to so they can afford it. Others, not so much.
Mind you, a wee bit more in the pocket would be nice ... especially as the monthly Jiko Wine Dinners are now up to $160.

I am not talking about you, Richard, Joe, Greg, Randy, etc.Cranbiz wrote:The reason that you see more bus drivers who are less than stellar is 1) MIMs and 2) There are 1200 bus drivers, odds are that bad apples will slip thru when you have that many. How many monorail pilots are there??
But I do know a lot of drivers that, from their attitude both on and off stage, I don't want to ever get on their bus if I don't have to.
My opinions are mine and mine only. If my opinions are the opinion of others who happen to share whatever my crazy views may be, then fine, but it's not because I represent them in having my opinions. Got it?
