Questions for Toontown and Matterhorn CMs

Post by Noctourne Wonderland » Mon Feb 23, 2009 8:23 pm

I have burning questions that I would love to have answered by someone who has their story straight-

#1. Why did they close the Jolly Trolley in Mickey's Toontown? It was fun and bouncy, and added life to the whole area. I once jumped on the side as it went by, heehee!

#2. How did the abominable snowman in the Matterhorn get to be named Harold?

Thank you, that is all! (Points to jail like the judge in Mr. Toad's Wild Ride)

Not sure on either, since I'm not Fantasyland/ToonTown attractions, but my understanding mixed with some assumptions would be that the Jolly Trolly closed because kids could jump out in front of it, and Harold got his name because the nickname for Harold is Harry, and the snowman is hairy. :)

That has pictures of the Car Barn and the stationary Jolley Trolley. It closed in 2003.

I loved the ride but you had to find the line and then people thought that they could hop on board like the Main Street streetcars. The CM had to explain that there was a line then hear complaints about people cutting in line. There was not much room on the cars including that pole that made a tight fit in one spot. It had SGs darting in front of the car as well as SGs jumping on and off the ride.

Another problem was the adding of Fastpass to Roger Rabbit ride and that the eastern corner was a traffic nightmare. There was no room for stroller parking without blocking the tracks other than along the curb and you know SGs. Very low amount of guests could ride in an hour. I miss it but that is progress and I bet when they repave Toontown they will get rid of the tracks as they are a risk for guests to trip on. There are options there but I would turn the Car Barn into something else like a garage and leave a drive way as a curb cut off for strollers and disabled guests.

Jolly Trolley closed cause it was too hard/expensive to maintain.

Jumping on the side, btw, is a very SG thing to do.

You're not supposed to "hop on board" the Streetcars either. They have an area where you wait to board on both ends of Main Street.

I don't think DOSH is too keen on people getting on or off a moving vehicle. As far as I know, you are not allowed to board a moving vehicle anywhere in Disneyland. And before you say "Haunted Mansion" and "Astro Blasters", I'd like to point out that you step onto a moving walkway that is moving at the same speed as the vehicles that you board, eliminating the sudden velocity change that makes boarding moving vehicles "hazardous".
