Haunted Mansion is open, yay! Well...

Post by LittleDollClaudia » Tue Feb 17, 2009 10:29 pm

Today Jack and I went on Mansion before I had to work. (Cause we could, isn't that fun?)

Anyhow, I love the fact it's back to normal, there were just a couple of things that bothered me.

Now I do like the new lightning sound effect that you hear on the porch and just inside the foyer. That's neat.

But we noticed Leota's "magic" today since the light illuminated her too much. Just move it a bit over and I wouldn't have been able to tell how she floats!

Now that wasn't too bad. It was what we saw in the ballroom that was such a pity.

Where the ghosts are coming in from the hearse, when you move closer to the dancers, you can see the green spotlight plain as day.

That was a bit of a killjoy. It wasn't like we were looking for it, you could see it.

Granted, we still enjoyed it enough to ride it twice. Funny thing though. On both of our Doom Buggies, the sound didn't work for the first half of the ride. Right after the safety spiel, there was silence.

Which made it just a bit creepier for us, because then all you heard was the set noise. We were joking about it later that maybe we just curse ourselves when we go on as again today the ride was down for a while after we rode it.

Haha, our auras broke the Mansion!

These lighting issues will probably get adjusted in time.

Unfortunately, its kind of a common thing for Leota to get a little to much light. Hopefully they will work on it.

I rode the mansion the day it reopened, and one of the singing busts was frozen. The face was "on", but motionless.

So, I imagine that these other issues will get taken care of soon.

Better that the bust was frozen, than skipping. Now that might be traumatic.

I rode it yesterday (and they day before, and the day before, and...well, you get it) and Leota was too bright, and if you knew where to look, the effects in the ballroom were obvious. However, it was still as enjoyable as always!

Now sound must have been cool. I went on Splash Mountain at WDW, and the first room (the "How do you do" room) had no sound. The animals moved their lips and played instruments, but no sound. It was surreal. Then, all of a sudden, on comes the music, incredibly loud.

HOW DO YOU DO?!?!?!?!

Yeah, it's become an inside joke, so at Splash at DL, there was a pause in the music right before the how do you do room, so of course there's a collective gasp, which must have frightened the rest of the log...

Topic veer- INCONCEIVABLE!

Does anyone official take a ride to see how the attractions appear to us SGs?
I recall last year for a time Captain Jack Sparrow in the treasure room at the end of POTC had his braid stuck across his face for at least a week (we were there on two different weekends). When my friend tried to tell a CM about it on exit, the CM just gave her an irritated look. Maybe it was the thousandth time someone mentioned it......

I too wonder what Iger's stance is to attractions. I know Walt liked to blend in and Eisner had CMs line up for his arrival to be backdoored in, but Iger seems to be out of the spotlight, if he goes to the parks at all. He's a bit of an enigma to me- he's the CEO, but it sure seems like John Lasseter is head of everything. On that note, Lasseter seems to rarely be at the parks, too. Maybe he's hiding behind all of those crazy construction walls at DCA.

There are times when there's an extra CM for a bit and they will do a ride through to make sure everything is working. Also, if a guest reports something then someone (the lead if there's no one extra) should ride it and double check before reporting it. Once it's reported, it's pretty much up to maintenance. Sometimes they're really quick, other times, not so much.

So if a monorail is driving around with popcorn and coke all over the floor with the casing on the door mechanism falling off the CM should care?
