When will people learn that the height requirement is a SAFETY guideline and MUST be followed! Ok. So, I was standing in the single riders line for Rockin' Roller Coaster at Disney's Hollywood Studios. There is a father with his two kids. One kid is definitely tall enough, the other was too short to ride. The cast member could easily slide his hand over her head and under the measuring post. Here's where the SG moment comes in....

" Why can't she ride?"

"She is not tall enough. See?"

"Oh, but she is close enough!"

"I'm sorry, sir. She cannot ride. She needs to be this tall in order to SAFELY ride this coaster."

"But she's been on every other ride here!"

At this point, he is getting very loud and angry at the cast member. I stepped in, being a former Coaster operator at another park, and explained to the man that it is a safety reason. Coaster designers set height restrictions for a reason. Your child is under the "safe zone" and could get hurt on the ride (or even worse, fall out) as it is not specifically designed for people her height.

He still doesn't get it and said that she will be fine and he will hold on to her. At this point, a supervisor is there and escorts him and his children out since he was holding up the ride (sort of) and such.....

My family had an incident in 2007; we had been through the single rider line three times when a CM decided my youngest wasn't old enough. There were no signs whatsoever about an age requirement, only the height indicator (which wasn't an issue) and she refused to call a supervisor. No there is no age minimum. The height requirement would make a guest have to be old enough to ride. The ride height minimum is 4 feet tall. If you know that you are right then ask for a lead. The CM may have been concerned about kid riding alone in single rider line but the single rider line is the same rules as the other lines.

There was a cart at the Hub in DL; and you got measured there and got the wristband. It was some kind of an electronic system; there was this red paddle thing that was held over your head; and the person's height displayed on a screen and the CM put on the wristband.

Are they still using that system at Disney Quest? Last time I was there about 4 years ago they were.

I'd say go with hhsrat. He's an attractions coordinator so knows the rules for attractions very well.

I'm not sure why there is no signage. But, I can imagine a plethora of SG's claiming that their child is 7 when they are not, because they know that is the age requirement is 7... not that you would, after all you are not an SG!

That child should have NEVER gotten to the load platform. Damn it this really pisses me off to no end. When I used to work at G-Force, those little ankle biters would have never gotten past the gift cart in the courtyard. The team I worked with there were all ways on it. It just pains the hell out of me to see what the once grand Rock n Roller Coaster of my time (And the times I spent on here with my stories of those days) has become. Not only the height thing but no one themes anymore (Except for two lovely ladies who still work there from when I did). The rest of them just suck, suck worse than a group of 15 year olds trying to sing 'I Don't Want To Miss A Thing"
