WDW & Beaches

Post by CastMemberTinkerbell1999 » Mon Mar 22, 2004 10:47 pm

Hi

I work in DRC and every once in a while we do run into really "stupid" quests. Last week I had a good one. I had a travel agent call from MI with a guest who was sitting at her desk while she was one the phone. I started my discovery process. I started pricing resorts and packages that the travel agent requested. Sometimes when the guest is sitting near the travel agent you can hear the questions that they ask or if the travel agent does not put you on hold you can hear the conversation that they are having. After pricing a few resorts the guest started asking for a resort that had a beach area. I told the travel agent which resorts had beach areas but advised the travel agent that it was not allowed to swim at the beaches. When she told the guest this I heard the guest say that they wanted to be able to go in the ocean while they were at the Disney resort. The travel agent repeatedly tried to tell the guest that Disney was in the middle of the state that she would have to go around 90 miles east or west to get to beach with an ocean or the gulf of mexico. I advised the travel agent about Vero Beach and that there were some resorts that we could book in the St. Pete - Clearwater Area. I could tell that the travel agent was a bit flustrated that the guest could not understand that the ocean was just not close to Disney. Then I have another travel agent call the next day who's guest wanted to stay at Vero Beach and use the shuttle bus to Disney. I advised her that Vero Beach was around 90 miles away and the guest would be losing an hour and half of drive time each way. LOL I normally don't run into to many odd guests but these two were with in days of each other.

My mother is geographically challenged like that. She and my father went to FL for their honeymoon and went to Miami for most of the trip. They made a day-trip up to Disneyworld. So now she thinks since she stayed in Miami on the beach that Disney is near the ocean. She just doesn't get it. When I try to show her a map, she says it isn't that far, Florida is a narrow state.

UUGGHHH :?

LOL Tink that's pretty funny. i can understand though cuz in the commercials I 've seen they show the ocean or some big body of water. Maybe they got it mixed up with the Disney Cruises? Anyways, what does DRC stand for? lol.

You know, sometimes you just get that urge to jump into the trash compactor.

the resort with ocean access than is the DLR, unless this was a Florida specific trip, b/c i can get to the beach from DL in about 10 minutes. and that was an indirect route. harbor goes all the way down to Huntington i belive, and you can take the 5 to the 55 and go to Balboa, or just get to PCH and find the spot of your choosing, the breeze i'm always talking about that we get at main street station, is a sea breezei'm very happy right now though, i have a samll ocean growing in my back yard, due to the "storm" we have going, brace for it guys, 1 and one half inches, i think i'm going to carry a PFD in my car (personal floatation device.

Yeah this was true back in March. But now. Any property in Florida is considered Oceanfront property thanks to the infamouse fab 4 hurricanes.
