Don't be fooled by appearances. In Hawaii, some of the most powerful people look like bums and stuntmen.

Re: Arrested Development
Wouldn't it be cheaper to just stay home and be arrested in America? It would also ensure prison guard jobs here in the USA. No point in outsourcing prison jobs. :D:

When I was traveling internationally I learned to dress like the locals and look dopey like the locals.GRUMPY PIRATE wrote:ya gotta remember, SOME of those places, making an arrest on an American IS a source of income!

All of the times I had to go to undesirable places, I had the brown passport, and usually an escort. made it a Little easiser.

Tokyo was probably the safest city I was ever in. Singapore was too but for different reasons.ktulu wrote:Hard to do in Tokyo when you are a fat white guy :D:

Just don't... and PLEASE, don't... overlook local traditions and culture. Amazing how fast you can offend, accost, insult or shame someone without even knowing it or meaning anything.hobie16 wrote:Tokyo was probably the safest city I was ever in.
I love the reaction I get when I go to a sushi place and order sushi and sashimi the way they're supposed to be ordered... Even more when I give the tip and say it's for Sake, not just a tip.
I've been asked several times if I've been to Japan.
