I leave the butter out, but the margarine in. I love the taste of butter.

My dad has all sorts of stories about coloring the margarine when he was a kid. Seems it came in little tablets that you had to crush up and then stir in your margarine.

You could bite off the end and drink the water or you could just chew the whole bottle like some sort of astoundingly low quality chewing gum. Does anybody remember these and know if they are still around? I used to love those things.

Yup - I remember chewing on those when I was a kid, along with candy cigarettes and Blackjack gum. The wax was thick and had no flavor - seemed like a waste to have that tiny bit of flavored liquid (sugar water??) inside that thick little bottle. They should have made the bottle itself out of something edible.

We used to chew them after drinking the liquid. Ugg what a taste.

There are several places online that still sell the retro candy.

and of course my favorite, Necco wafers!

My favorite Necco is chocolate. But they don't seem to have as much flavor as they did when I was growing up--must have something to do with taste fading as one grows older.

My absolute favorite candy bar was Seven-Up; it had six different flavors plus a whole Brazil nut. Now the closest the sell is Skybar, with only four or five flavors, no Brazil nut. :(
